As noted in previous responses, safes can trap moisture. The silica packs are one way to keep documents dry. However, these packs do have a limited shelf life. I don’t think they are the best solution. I use a $15 rechargeable EVA Dry dehumidifier in my safe. It has silica beads inside that change color when wet.
