Q: Do the union of two panels form a waterproof barrier?

No, and roots can find their way through the union.

Q: Can it be buried so that half is above ground to make a raised bed. And if so would it require external support?

Yes, it could be buried half way, however, no you can't use it to form a raised bed with soil in it. The panels are not rigid, so soil behind them would cause them to bow very badly. You'd need to stake them with something rigid at least every 12", and even then they would probably bow between the stakes.

Q: can I connect this to make a square?

It is 60 mil. Plastic. If above ground, it will bulge out, roundish, from weight of dirt inside. If below ground, surrounded by dirt, it can be just 4 panels linked, to set into a square space.

Q: What do you recommend for arborvitaes roots?

This product will work fine. The arborvitae roots are shallow and have little chance of getting beneath and beyond the barrier.

Fantastic Buy Easy to work with

Well packaged arrived on time, easy to put together, the instruction are easy to follow and extremely easy to use. The hardest thing is digging the garden to put them in. Flexible and bendy so made my job easy.

Worth it!

Delivery on time. Set these into the trench that I had prepared and joined them together. Don't tap down with a mallet though as one of mine snapped. Luckily I had some extra. That was my fault though, so product was excellent.
