There is currently no evidence to suggest that Apigenin negatively impacts gym gains. In fact, there is one study from 2017 that suggests Apigenin may positively affect muscle growth. This research highlighted that apigenin may increase mitochondrial efficiency by increasing certain enzymes, including PGC1 Alpha. This increase leads to greater MTOR activation, which is the main signalling pathway that supports anabolism, resulting in increased muscular hypertrophy (growth). However, it is important to note that apigenin has a calming effect and is used as a sleep aid, therefore, it is not recommended to take it before training. So, while apigenin may help with muscle growth, its sedative effects must also be considered. If you wish to research further, the 2017 research study is titled "Apigenin enhances skeletal muscle hypertrophy and myoblast differentiation by regulating Prmt7".
