Is a small one, it doesn't produce very much indeed. Try to clean with a dry clot or a dry brush

There is not alot of steam produced and its about 2m from my bed will the steam fill the room eventually? I am using to help my dehydration at night

That depends on size of bedroom but a average size this will be fine. This unit puffs out steam every few seconds so should do the trick as it gradually fills the area you don't want to much steam or would be like a Turkish bath okay Google luck there good little machines for the money

Any advice on how to remove hard water line scale build up from the metal disc?

If you get a water filter jug, only use filtered water in the humidifier. Should decrease the lime scale a lot.
