First time I haven't missed my old Sony Trinitron!
Wow... wow wow wow. Ever since I first switched to flat screen panels, I've always felt like they can never live up to the color reproduction or clarity of my old Sony Trinitron. It was a giant white plastic cube with flat glass that felt like it weighed more than I did, but that monitor has always been the gold standard for me. No flat screen I've used since has been able to match it. This is the first time a flat screen monitor hasn't left me feeling like the game I'm playing would have looked better on that Trinitron. This is also my first experience with a VA panel, or with a monitor this large in general, but I am honestly shocked by the quality of the image this monitor produces. You definitely need a video card with sufficient power and memory to get this monitor to do 144 hz.. I am using an 8-year old GTX 680 lightning and while it is still a capable card in some respects (I use it for an oculus rift with no problems) its 2Gb of VRAM lack the memory bandwidth required to push 3440 x 1440 at 144 hz. No worries here though, because I'm upgrading my card to a new Radeon 5700 xt with the money i saved by buying this direct from Amazon. (Amazon is the only retailer not price gouging and sells this monitor for 459$ when they have it in stock so be patient!)I will update my review after testing it with my new card because reviewing it without testing 144 hz at 1440 is premature, but right now I couldn't be happier. It's nice to be bottlenecked by my system for once.Considering your monitor is the peripheral that you spend all your time starting at, it should be as robust as the system you're pairing it with. This is my dream monitor and it feels good just looking over and seeing it on my desk even when it's turned off. I'm surprised no one has mentioned how classy and solid the stand seems or how clean the overall styling of the monitor itself is. The legs are a work of art and the stand goes up and down so smoothly.. it's impressively easy to lift up and down considering the weight of the monitor. This thing is far better engineered than the Asus, Dell or ViewSonic flatscreen monitors I've used in the past.Contrary to what I read in the reviews prior to my purchase, I was pleasantly surprised by the out of box settings. I thought I would have to tweak it a lot after reading the other reviews. This might only apply to the 34-inch version of this monitor since it's the flagship, and might be finer tuned than the other panels during production. It also arrived just as promised with no dead pixels.. and I love that the company offers a 3-year guarantee on that. Though I doubt I'll ever have to use it.I mentioned this above, but it's worth noting you can get this monitor for way less than the 900$ currently being demanded by some retailers. I think the high number of people stuck at home during quarantine upgrading their toys is driving prices up.. after almost buying this for 900$ I kept checking and sure enough Amazon got a couple in stock the other night for $459. They also had a few of the 32 inch non-curved displays for 259 but I went ahead and splurged. My wife gave me permission cuz it's my anniversary present... She's the best. Amazon shipped it to my door in just a couple days and I couldn't be happier.*Edit after upgrade to 5700 xt* 5/19/2020Holy moly I'm in love with this monitor. The colors are wonderful and I can finally push this monitor to it's full 144 hz in a lot of games. It's worth noting a lot of older games don't scale to ultrawide very easily but if you mod Skyrim it's amazing to behold in 3440 x 1440.. especially at 144 hz. If you can get this monitor without being price gouged, jump on it.

Warranty experience - GREAT
I felt compelled to leave a review that primarily speaks to my experience w/ the warranty after seeing some other reviews.Monitor is great. This was my first 34" ultrawide. I originally purchased in March of 2021 to complement a new pre-built I purchased due to lack of GPU inventory to build myself.Fast forward, 6-months later and the monitor fell face forward on my desk and caught the mouse in the wrong spot. Oddly enough, this cracked the screen in the upper right hand side thus damaging the panel and rendering a 6-inch space in the shape of a rectangle from the edge inward blank. The rest of the monitor worked, but seeing this happen almost brought me to tears given the expense and short lifespan. This happened on a Sunday. I contacted AOC via email that night, but decided to call in the next day in the evening. I connected w/ a rep and he helped get me started. The rep sounded French and it kind of reminded me of a scene from the IT crowd where one of the characters calls into a call center and has difficulty understanding the agents. Regardless, he was very helpful and able to get the process started for me. Once started, as a customer I had 2 choices to proceed w/ the replacement (one of which the agent alluded to taking a bit longer than the other, though not specific to which one).I could either opt to ship the monitor myself and a replacement would be sent upon receipt OR provide my CC for them to ship one out ASAP, which I could then use the box to ship the damaged monitor back. I opted for the path of least resistance, which to me was providing my CC info for them to ship me a monitor ASAP.The process was initiated on a Monday evening. I received a follow-up from the warranty processing company on Wednesday letting me know it had been approved and giving me the choices on how to proceed. I promptly submitted the info. I received a notification the order had been placed and I'd get a shipping notification upon the replacement monitor being shipped. About one week passed and I hadn't heard anything. I checked the RMA website that same day (following Thursday after RMA had been approved) and saw nothing, but finally got an email notification that the monitor had shipped. When i checked the tracking, it was set to arrive the following day. It arrived that next day as expected and I'm typing this from the same computer/monitor setup. The whole process from initiation to receipt of the monitor took just under 2 weeks (about 10 business days).I was really impressed with the AOC warranty and the speed and relative ease at which I was able to adhere to their process and get a replacement. This was a first for me, as I typically don't like to rely on warranties.I learned 2 lessons from this:1. A warranty like the 1 year AOC warranty makes ALL the difference in the world when you need it AND is something I will be on the lookout for in other monitor purchases.2. Maybe I should think twice about purchasing an extended warranty for an expensive monitor.THANK YOU AOC

Awesome monitor
I've had mine for about 4 years now and I've loved it. I'm definitely not a display snob, so take it for what it's worth. I love gaming on this thing. I love productivity on this thing. All around it's a wonderful monitor and I've had 0 issues.

Great monitor but a little dull
The AOC CU34G2X is a fantastic ultrawide monitor that offers an immersive gaming experience. The 34-inch curved screen, combined with the UltraWide QHD 3440x1440 resolution, really draws you into the action. It's smooth and has not had any screen tearing. The build quality is solid, and I appreciate the height adjustability, which makes it easy to find a comfortable setup. The frameless design also gives it a sleek, modern look. The three-year zero dead pixels guarantee gives peace of mind, knowing that AOC stands behind their product. However, I did notice that the monitor is a bit dim compared to others in its class, and the colors could be more vibrant. It’s not a dealbreaker, but if you’re someone who’s very particular about brightness and color accuracy, especially for content creation or watching movies, it might feel a little lacking. That said, for gaming and multitasking, it’s still an excellent monitor. The ultrawide aspect ratio is great for productivity, giving you plenty of screen real estate. Overall, despite the slight issues with brightness and color vibrancy, this monitor performs very well for its price and delivers a great gaming experience.
