it probably does, the M5-R2 transmission is made by Mazda and used in both cars and Ford light trucks

Q: Does this fit a 1990 miata?

I don't know for sure. The manual transmission in a 1992 Ford Explorer(for which I bought the kit) and some other Ford vehicles was a Mazda unit. You will need to look up the parts interchange to see if it will fit your transmission. It might fit, but I wouldn't buy until I checked it out. You will probably need to know what model trans. you have. Installation was easy, but I did have to stuff a rag into the top to keep chips out while I filed off some burrs on the old locator pins in order to get the old pins out without damaging the transmission lever housing. Don't force them out! The burrs, if present, will cut the aluminum and enlarge the pin holes! l. O. G.
