What Does God Want?

Dr. Heiser has done it again! ---For those who have read the Unseen Realm, Angels, Reversing Hermon etc. this book fills a gap that has needed to be filled. What does God Want is a book that boils the big picture of the Deuteronomy 32 & Psalm 82 view of the Bible into a very usable outline that can be conveyed to a new or even a non believer in a simple and quickly understandable way. For those who haven't read Unseen Realm, this is a great way to do a flyover without digging too deep. As a fan of Heiser, I have been frustrated with my ability to put his research conclusions into simple, quickly communicated terms for the uninitiated. This book does this. Even the chapters are titled in a way that are easily remembered and will walk you through God's plan from beginning to end. Spoiler Alert...HIS plan and passion is for you!

I loved this powerful little book. It sets the table for reading Michael Heiser with a necessary perspective of how God wants us to seek him well. I wished I would have read this first before reading The Unseen Realm and Reversing Hermon. Dr. Heiser brings such depth of wisdom and wonder to the richness and complexity of what is unseen. Worth reading several times.

Dr. Heiser presents the overall narrative of the Bible clearly in a few short chapters. He then digs in on the gospel, what it is and isn't. He does a great job using Scripture to back up his position. Lastly, he tackles discipleship with a clarity I have not found elsewhere. I very much appreciated this book for both its concise and plain spoken presentation of its subjects. This is a terrific book both for non-believers interested in understanding what the Bible and Jesus are all about, new believers wanting to know what is expected of them, and seasoned believers looking for a good refresher or tool to use in introducing Jesus and the Bible to others.

Many people study and do so in great depth only to feel inundated with too much information and overwhelmed by neverending questions with not enough life to gain all the answers. What Does God Want? will help to snap you back to what's important, to what's essential and offer you a primer of what to keep one's spiritual eye on. God wants us. He always has. We must carry on His will and rescue our fellow imagers, loving and serving like Jesus and become more useful to His Kingdom.

I wish there was such a book as this back in the 90's. If everyone who ever contemplated becoming a Christian read this book, they would arrive at their decision sooner (time is of the essence). This book explains what God truly wants of us without all the mumbo, jumbo religiosity - I never liked religion, but I love God. Share this with anyone who is curious about the Christian faith and seeking God. A fast read, so I guarantee you won't fall asleep.

If only I had a resource like this when I was a young believer and started questioning so many of the things I’d heard in church as a kid. The simplicity of the timeline detailed in “Part 1-The Story” with very clear scriptural references honestly drew the line from Adam to Jesus in a way I personally have never bothered to really study. And now, I absolutely will be more intentional in my study of every part. It just makes so much more sense now. Bravo, Heiser. I plan to get copies for friends soon- we ALL can learn something from this quick read.

I’ve read a lot of them over the past 20 years and bought cases of them chuck amith chuck missler ray comfort Ken ham this one is totally different. This book successfully gives a narrative that’s based on the truth and although is complex it’s simply explained so that the reader comes away with a crystal clear understanding of why god did what he did. It’s absolutely perfect for a new person because it’s exactly what they are wondering about it gives the reasons why and I can’t think of one single book that’s effective at that this is the one to buy cases of to give to new recruits it’s amazing !

To any who have read “Supernatural“ This is an excellent resource to a foundational understanding of our Christian beliefs. This is NOT an in depth treatise on the subject as “Unseen Realm” vs. “Supernatural” in their subject.Personally he writes in such a way as to challenge one’s thinking. It can be a bit uncomfortable, at times, but will challenge believers to go deeper in our relationship with God.Well done Dr. H

I noted that one review of this book expresses the reader’s sadness of not having been able to read it before embarking upon some of Dr. Heisler’s more profound writings. I have found this foundational book a wonderful breath of fresh air, clearing my own mind and reminding me that the key to Bible study requires a fundamental paradigm shift ... “It is not I” (Galatians 2:20). I have been trying to accumulate and process ‘new’ detail using my own mind . . . I am so pleased that I did not dismiss this book as unnecessary.

Heiser is a brilliant author with a brilliant mind. He writes some deep stuff but he also writes books for the layman. This is one of them. It is incredibly easy to follow and will benefit every Christian (and non-Christian). If I was being picky, the only thing I would say is that I'd like him to explain Galatians 5:18-24 (page 88) a little more. Also, I believe Romans chapter 7 talks about Paul's life before he came to know the Lord. Other than that, I can highly recommend this book.

The Author brings a much needed clarity to the Fathers purpose in creating Mankind. Any reader who digests this book with the assistance of the Holy Spirit will be less likely to be led astray by false Teachers.Essential for new and confused believers.John Boyd

I am also reading another book from this author but paused to tread this one. A very helpful and informative read for all disciples and would be disciples.

This book makes you think from God’s perspectives. How much his unconditional Love is His Gift for each of us; and the cost of His Only Son as payment for our Sins? Really well written and throughly enjoyed this book!!!
