My bunnies really love this hay
Every time I open the big box of Oxbow Western Timothy Hay, there’s this really nice, fresh smell that hits you — like legit good hay smell. As soon as I lift the lid, my two buns come running and start munching way more enthusiastically than usual. It’s like they know it’s the good stuff! They’ve been eating this hay forever, and honestly, it’s the best thing for their teeth and digestion. Since they’re getting older, I also give them Oxbow’s vitamins and supplements for joints and digestion, which keeps them hopping around without any drama. The hay itself is all-natural and fresh, and the 25 lb box lasts a long time, so I’m not constantly worried about running out.

Green hay
I bought a 9 lb box in may and in July and both have had good green hay and a nice smell so hopefully the next box will be the same

They love it
I bought for my bunnies and they love it ,it is very tightly packed in the box . You definitely get the box stuffed for what you pay for vs the store bought

My rabbit won't eat what they delivered.
I don't know what to say here .I've been buying Since I have had my rabbit I have been ordering .subscribing and very happy with the hay products as well as the pellets from Oxbow. This however is the second batch of hay that I've received that my rabbit would not touch. He literally eats around it.If I put in treat hay or put treats like fresh apple or carrot on the hay he avoids eating the hay itself.THis box in particular only seems to have stems. No blades of the hay grasses.I tried to return it immediately but the notice said I could not return it.My rabbit is a voracious consumer of his hay so this is both expensive and very upsetting as I was relying on reliable hay for my rabbit. I hesitate to even order from Oxbow again since they seem uninterested in making this right.I didn't;t even reach out about the 25lb subscription box of orchard hay that my rabbit won't touch. other boxes he loved or I would not have ordered more.

Bunny loves it! And a comment on quality variation
Great quality product! I order the 9lb box for my miniature fuzzy lop Darla every two months or so. She absolutely loves it and will clean her hay rack out to the last piece. The packaging is easy to store and keep tidy. I do wish they had an airtight resealable top, but that’s mostly because I buy such large quantities for my little bunny and would like it to stay fresher longer. The only true “downside” to I’ve experienced is that when comparing the price to similar products, it’s one of the most expensive. Since I don’t have much experience with these competitors (Darla liked this hay so much I never needed to shop around) I can’t speak on the quality vs. pricing sliding scale there.I want to address some of the reviews complaining that the product is not consistent in quality. I’d suggest that it is not the quality that changes, but the texture and body of the Timothy hay. Hay is harvested in “cuttings”, 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. For anyone curious, I’d direct you to West Meadow Rabbit’s video on YouTube on the difference between cuttings. Unless your critter is super picky, it shouldn’t make any significant difference to them or the hay’s nutritional profile. Otherwise, I’d suggest buying a hay product which specifies the “cut”.For example, my previous box resembled 3rd cut hay: it was darker in color, the strands were thinner, curlier and almost cotton-candy like, and the smell was potently sweet & like tea. There were few of the “fuzzy tops”, or seed heads, in this mix. My bunny likes this because of the sweeter taste and strong smell. My current box more closely resembles 1st cut hay: the stalks are more rigid, thicker, and a pale green color with lots of fuzzy seed heads that Darla goes crazy for. It just smells like normal hay, and does break into smaller pieces as you get to the bottom of the box along with a more noticeable buildup of dust. This is normal, especially when buying large portions as the fragile stalks get crushed in transit. My bunny enjoys munching along the straight stalks like we would slurp a spaghetti noodle.Again, both should be received well by your bunny so long as they aren’t super picky, and they shouldn’t have significantly different nutrition profiles so don’t let that deter you from seeing if they like this stuff! This brand and product as a whole is excellent, and in my opinion the change in texture is a good thing - no wasteful discrimination for superficial reasons (on a product which does not state cutting) and a natural variation.

Inconsistency
This time the hay was very fresh. It came bright green, and our bunnies loved it SO much! A small handful would disappear within a couple of hours! had to rate 4 stars though because of the inconsistency. The past order, it came with lots of brown hay, it was a really oddly soft texture that also gave tummy aches to our boys. I will order again but i would wish i could trust it will be fresh!
