Egg Cracker

I've been using this egg cracker now for three months and can report that it works just as described. It's a simple idea with no moving parts to wear out and, once you get the hang of it, even with stiff fingers, you can break eggs without breaking the yolk every time. And, it keeps bits of egg shell out of the pan most of the time as well. It does rupture the egg membrane, so some white may leak out sometimes - you need to break the egg right by your pan.Highly recommended if your hands aren't quite what they used to be!

I eat a lot of eggs, but I have never been good at cracking them, silly, right? This is very simple, not a device like an egg topper, this has no moving parts. It just provides a nice sharp edge to slam the egg down on. It makes a nice cut into the egg, I am able to pull it open easily with no shell pieces breaking off.

this was an expensive waste of money .Sure it works just like the the edge of a pan or pot.

I wanted a quick, mess-free way to crack eggs without banging them on pans and having egg whites running down the sides - or having to fish out tiny egg shell pieces from the eggs in the pan... this was not the solution. Based on reviews of other products, this seemed like the best option. Unfortunately, when I use this, I do not get a clean, precise cut - I get a jagged crack/cut and about one out of 3 eggs will drop a small piece of shell in the pan. Also, there is a small amount of egg white that runs down the blade and sits in the bottom of the device every time, so I also have to clean up every time, which I was not expecting to have to do. I had better luck just using a sharp-edged pan. Maybe the razor blade is defective in my unit (not likely), but for now, I don't see "the perfect egg cracker" out there yet. Better to stick with the edge of your frying pan for now.P.S. - I'm open to recommendations if anyone has found something that leaves no mess, does not leave egg shell pieces in the yolk/white, and is quick and easy to use.

I have a 11 year old who is severely mentally retarded. He loves to cook, but cracking an egg proves to be difficult for him to master. I bought this egg cracker so that he can learn to crack an egg. I looked on Amazon for various egg crackers and find this one to make the most sense, so I gave it a try.It worked! After a few initial failed attempts (hit too gentle and the egg didn't crack, hit too hard and it totally fell apart), my son is cracking eggs reasonably well such that I can let him do the cracking all by himself. So now when I need to make scrambled eggs, I just call my son over and he takes care of the cracking. Very nice to see him gain another skill!My 6 year old with normal IQ has no trouble learning to use this egg cracker to crack eggs.Now me, I've never had trouble cracking eggs, but now that I have this gadget, I never crack an egg without it! It does crack it much nicer. I do a lot of cooking and use it daily. You always need eggs, not just for scrambling, but also for cakes, pancakes, waffles, stir fried rice, kids' breakfast -- I'm cracking eggs all the time! You can crack eggs without the egg cracker, but this makes it so much nicer and neater. The egg yolk almost guaranteed to stay intact. It's just a better and cooler way to crack eggs.The clean up is a breeze. You can give it a quick rinse, but I just throw it in the dishwasher every night. Comes out spotless.My husband at first made fun of "needing a gadget just to crack an egg," but now I find him looking for the egg cracker whenever he needs to do it. It's just nicer, you see? My whole family use this thing. It's inexpensive, it's never going to break (there's no breakable part), it takes little space, and it's easy to clean. Everybody who ever cracks eggs should get one!

I bought this egg cracker for my husband. He occasionally will make me a quick bread from a mix for my breakfast; and they ALWAYS have eggshells in them. After reading the various reviews, I decided that this would be the best choice.It works well enough. It's a sharp blade that you just whack the egg on. The only criticism I have is that it's fairly expensive. It does the job OK. It's a fairly large unit, too.If you're desperate for something to eliminate the shells, then this might be the answer for you!

Don't waste your money on this product. You getbetter results by just cracking an egg on a flat surface.

All this gadget does is provide a mounted blade to crack your egg on. It's not much different from cracking the egg on the pronounced edge of a frying pan or on the blade of your favorite cleaver. Buying this doesn't bring much of a benefit and now you've got yet another item that needs to be cleaned and stored away (it's quite large for what it does).I don't own this, but a friend of mine bought it and when I demonstrated how easy it is to crack an egg against a cleaver, she was a bit embarrassed that she bothered with this thing at all. Save your money and don't add to drawer clutter!
