A great read.
I really enjoyed this story I think this one is very well done. I highly recommend it . I bought the audio but I didn't care for the reader, her "male" voice was very convincing and kept throwing the story off (to me). At nearly 8 dollars I wasn't satisfied I should have realized that when I heard the sample. However it's a personal opinion. It was a good story well written and hard to put down and. I was sorry it ended.

A nice western
I haven’t read Johanna Lindsey in a really long time. And paying $13 for an ebook— I don’t know if I’ll do that again anytime soon. It has to be a pretty spectacular book to be worth that spending that much!!So this was a pretty classic JL book. The heroine was feisty and the hero curmudgeonly. Buried under his gruff exterior was the handsome softy. The main complaint I have is that this book was super LONG with too much wishy-washy back and forth between the H and the h. It drug in the middle. And then after all that dragging it felt like it ended rather abruptly. I enjoyed the book. It was a good read but had some pretty unrealistic parts that just have to be overlooked in the name of romance novel tropes. The heroine also had a number of TSTL moments. And the “you’re an imposter”.... “no I’m not” went on too long.It was good, but somehow not as satisfying as I’d hoped or felt is should be. Maybe it is the expectations a $13 price tag sets. It didn’t quite reach that high.Edited to add: this is #3 in the Warren-Callahan family series. It comes after One Heart To Win and seems to be somewhat parallel to the storyline in Wildfire In His Arms. It’s not labeled in Amazon as #3 in the series and I didn’t even realize it until near the end of the book. I read #1 a long time ago— Tiffany and Hunter’s book. I have not read #2 about Degan Grant and Maxine. You don’t need to have read the other two books to enjoy this one. But this book contains spoilers for the other two as it comes after them timeline-wise.

Partners of Silver and Gold
Great story of what happened with gold and silver miners. How some partner up to watch every other back. How to families merged to be one. Look forward to the next story. Hard to put down the book. Love this story. The Audible was fantastic and was more enjoyable than with out it.

Wow
Well she did it again! Could not put it down. Sleep can be had another time. Loved the way Morgan abducted Violet, the unfolding of two hot tempered passionate people coming to terms with love and success.

disappointed
I have been a Joanna Lindsey fan for close to 30 years. She is my favorite Historical Romance novelist, I usually laugh and cry along with her heroine's. The characters are so witty, but lately her character's are bland. It's almost like I'm reading a book written by a new author.

Okay, but a Very Slow Start
FINAL DECISION: Just okay for me. The characters were nice, but the story was really, really slow to get into. Things ended up nicely and I enjoyed it overall, but not a book I would look to read again.THE STORY: Violet Mitchell traveled from London to her family's home in Philadelphia to find that her father has gone west to try and solve the family's looming money problems. Violet follows and find that her father is dead and needing to find his mine to save the family. Morgan Callahan doesn't believe the woman who has come snooping around is his deceased partner's daughter. So he kidnaps her to find out what she is really doing.OPINION: There wasn't anything in particular that I didn't like about this book. It just felt a little flat to me and it took a long time for me to get into the story. By the time the story picked up in the last half of the book, it was too late for this to be a great book for me.The characters were nice and I liked reading about the western setting, however, I didn't find the characters compelling and vibrant such that I would want to read their story again. I especially had a problem with Morgan who remains a mystery in his thoughts and motivations for almost the entire book. It made him feel too distant and indistinct to be a fascinating character.I also really didn't feel the connection between these characters for most of the book. They didn't clash, it just didn't feel like a deep passionate connection either.Overall, I liked the book, and I liked the story in a general way -- meaning that when I finished it I didn't feel that I had wasted my time reading it, but I don't think I'd pick this book up again wanting to revisit these characters or their story.WORTH MENTIONING: This book explores mining in the west. For me this was the most interesting part of the book.CONNECTED BOOKS: MARRY ME BY SUNDOWN is the third book in the Callahan-Warren series. Although there are some appearances by overlapping characters, this book operates as a complete standalone.STAR RATING: I give this book 3 stars.

Johanna never lets me down!
The storyline was good as always. You pretty much know how it will end. The excitement is in following their journey.
