This will look great carrying a piece
I make Holsters as a hobby, so I have an informed perspective on leather products. The fit of this belt is great. 2” larger than loose jean size leaves plenty of room for inside the waistband large frame revolver. A true gun belt, that looks like fine quality leather. You can cinch this as tight as you like with no fear of stretching. I already owned a non-steel lined gun belt, so I know what to expect. The steel liner doesn’t decrease comfort in the slightest, but it does greatly improve axial strength. If you hold this belt against a wall by the buckle on its strength axis, it doesn’t sag a bit. I replaced my previous belt with this one because it had taken a set - if it was laid on the counter it had a 3” curve. The curve didn’t make it more comfortable, it made my pants sag in the back. It was also fine quality leather, and the sag is a natural side effect of everyday wear. Why would a leather worker buy a belt instead of making it? It’s hard to source thick, straight, non stretchy leather without buying the whole side. It’s just not cost effective, and since I hand stitch holsters, there’s a lot of hand sewing to edge a belt.My only gripe with this new belt is the fact that it is unfinished. The description said the edges were unfinished, but I was expecting a little waterproofing on the light, natural colored leather. I’m able to stain (if desired) and finish without issue, but I’d caution other buyers to expect a raw leather belt. It is ~$20 cheaper than the comparable stained belt, so if that matters to you, buy the finished version. It’s also shipped coiled up in a flat envelope, which caused me no problems, but if it got smashed the wrong way, could kink the steel liner.
