Q: Can someone explain the magnet thing? Like if i put this on some headphones then get a new pair do I need to buy this again or?

The Antlion Audio ModMic Wireless only comes with two magnetic clasps. One clasp is for headphone, and the other is for the microphone as shown in this tutorial: https://youtu.be/tZqV9cjw0RA If you like to use the ModMic with another headphone, you'll need to get extra magnetic clasps at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F69Z32O

Q: has anyone paired this w/ an open-back headphones, and experience feedback/echo? my only concern atm, otherwise sold.

I've used these with Sennheiser HD 599 SE's and Philips SHP9500's. They're both open-back headphones and I've had no issues at all.

Q: Is this compatible with previous magnetic mounts (i.e. I don't want to de-attach the mic from my current Modmic 5 from my headset)

Yes, it is. However I had to change the position of my magnet mount to accommodate the length of the Wireless ModMic.
