Ultrashort Laser Pulse Phenomena: Fundamentals, Techniques, and Applications on a Femtosecond Time Scale (Optics & Photonics Series)

Outstanding Resource
As a first time student in optical sciences, graduate level, I was able to pick up this text and make sense of much of what was written. Given a mathematical background (BS) with minor in physics, I am having an easier time of it than I might have imagined at first for not having completed a single laser physics or advanced optics course. This text is written with experimentation in mind as opposed to being over heavy on theoretical work. Working in a lab on a summer internship with research on Ultra Short Pulsed Lasers has proven absolutely invaluable as well. Certainly this experience is a tremendous compliment to my understanding of the text. As such, my opinion may be a bit biased, however the book is well written. Great for Upper level undergrads or grad students. I suggest reading some material on basic optics and intro level laser physics first, there are some concepts such as laser filamentation, self focusing, plasma defocusing etc. whose meanings may not be readily apparent without some prior understanding of lensing or plasma properties.

Informative and Useful
I got this book for my Ultrafast Optics course and it appears to cover all of the topics I need. From what I've read, it is clearly written and concise. A solid ultra fast optics book.
