Gillette Fusion Proglide razor blades-Amazon purchase
For years I used Gillette Mach 3 blades and was very satisfied. A few months ago I realized my razor was long in the tooth and decided to buy a more modern and "improved" Gillette product, so I bought the Fusion Proglide at my local Walgreens. It came with 2 blades. The first blade was satisfactory and gave me nice shaves. It lasted several weeks, as did the older Mach 3 blades. I should explain that I am retired and have a rather light, fine beard. I normally shave every other day now, since I don't need to appear in an office. After the first blade was done, I began using the second. Surprise! After just a few shaves, it wouldn't shave well at all. I had to go over and over my face to get a close shave, and even then it left very short, visible stubble, which with fine hair is really unusual. I think the blade lasted 2 weeks, about 6 shaves, which for me is ridiculously short. I figured I had a bad blade, so ordered this refill package from Amazon. Today, after having these refills for less than a month, I inserted my third blade, since the first two dulled noticeably after 4 or 5 shaves. Obviously, something is wrong here. I noticed that they have the blue band, as some people have mentioned. Is it the blades? Is it the razor? I don't know and it's just outside of the time when I could return these to Amazon, so I will suffer through and make another choice when they are gone. A straight razor sounds dangerous and I hate electric shavers, so from now on it's a mystery as to what I will do, since I have used Gillette products since a teenager, with the old double-edged blades. Gillette, what have you done? Update: September 6, 2013 I discovered that the problem with my blades was the shaving gel I was using, which was quite thick and gummed up the blades, so that I had to clean them with Qtips after each use. That solved part of the problem. The real solution came when I began using Dr. Bronner's Organic Shaving Gel, which is thin and gives a nice base for shaving on my skin. This solved my problem and I now find that my blades are as great as the used to be. Therefore I'm now giving these blades a 5 star rating, as my shaves are super. Gillette was kind enough to send me coupons for new blades. Thank you, Gillette. I'm now a happy camper.

Best blades out there!
I love these razors and at a price of $25 at the time of purchase, this was by far the best deal on them I could find. I'm in the military so I have to shave every day and a couple months back I decided to give Harry's a try since they were a lot cheaper than Gillette and had great reviews. I was disappointed when I got my Harry's razor and found that it tore my face up. I don't really know why, the blades seemed sharp but every time I used it I ended up with razor burn. After almost a week I decided to go back to my "old faithful". Using the Gillette Fusion Proglide blades with a flexball razor gives me by far the best shave of anything I've tried. As you probably already know, how you store the blades is critical when it comes to how long they will stay sharp. Leaving the blades wet or on a shelf in the shower will reduce their life tremendously. I didn't realize how much so until I started using a dry box to store it in. When I finish shaving I rinse the blades off good and try to shake as much water off as I can and then I just put it in the "Dry Blade" storage box until the next day. I has made a huge difference in how much use I'm able to get out of a blade before it gets dull. Shaving daily I can get a month or longer out of the blades now before I replace them. I'll include a link to the Dry Blade if anyone is interested. DriBlade - Shaving Razor Dry Kit for Men

Pricey, but worth it!
Yes, I can understand how paying up to $3 per blade is unreasonable for a lot of people. I can sympathize. When you go as far as to skip shaving because it's too expensive, you know there's a problem. However, I've found that the Fusion blades are, like the Mach 3 before them, worth the extra cost. I have very thick, fast-growing facial hair, which earned me more than my share of scrutiny when I was in the military. Therefore, I need razors that can cut through it without excessive strokes that each take a bit of skin with them. The Mach 3 was a huge improvement over dual-blade razors for me, and for quite a while I stuck with those rather than paying a premium for the Fusion 5-blades. Also affecting my decision was the old Onion article: "**** Everything, We're Doing Five Blades," which reinforced my perception that a five-bladed razor was nothing but a marketing gimmick. And perhaps it is - but it shaves noticeably better than the Mach 3, either because of the additional blades or some other less-obvious improvements. Not only do I get a better shave with fewer strokes, but I can even skip a couple days and then cut through the beginnings of a hoary beard with little effort. And even better, the new razors seem to last longer than the Mach 3s, giving half a dozen shaves or more before they need replacement. The Mach 3s gave up the ghost after just 3 or so. I certainly recommend these razors if the cost is not a huge obstacle, especially if you've got facial hair from hell like I do.

Worth it, if you need to buy them anyway
As far as the 8 pack of blades I purchased, the blades themselves are fine. I'm not certain, but they seem to cut better and last longer than the ones I've purchased in a big box store many times before. The only reason I can't bring myself to give them 5 stars is they're just still SO EXPENSIVE. I was hoping that finding them in bulk or with a more generic package would make them a bit cheaper, but no such luck. Blades work great though, so great in fact, that my wife steals my razor a lot. If you're wondering if this are legitimate or if you should buy them in the store, buy them here. They are the real deal and work great.
