When my daughter struggled to gain weight, I wanted to rule out all of the possible variables. I met with a nutritionist who mentioned breast milk testing, and I'm a data nerd so then I NEEDED to know that it was nutritionally adequate. My 6 mo old has had a hard time gaining weight. He exclusively breastfed, bottle and breastfed, and then landed on exclusively pumping and bottle feeding. He was able to gain more weight with this method, but still goes through periods with little to no weight gain. We eliminated a lot of other variables (like volumes) and so I wanted to know how many cal/oz he was actually getting with my breastmilk. This service was exactly what I needed. Mailed it in on Tuesday and tracked it to its destination by Friday early afternoon. Got an email Saturday am saying they received my sample and then Saturday pm got my results! Much faster turn around time than I anticipated. After slow weight gain was in a slump wondering if I could keep this up and if it was better for my baby, I was very happy to see all my results come in at the higher end in all categories than the formula that was being pushed. The data renewed my focus to keep on breastfeeding to my next goal of at least 6 months.

Can’t recommend this test enough! My 1st son struggled to gain weight and I was told that my milk probably didn’t have enough fat in it and was encouraged to switch to formula way before I was ready. Amazing! I had not received an email saying that the lab had my specimen. So I reached out and emailed the company. Within 1-2 days they responded! They willingly sent a new kit free of charge, without me asking!!! Turns out the mail carrier just sent my kit to the wrong place and they were able to locate it. After the little mix up, the lab sent me my results that week!!! Super fast and an awesome idea. My son is super chunky and knowing what’s in my breastmilk was fun to know. Turns out he’s eating a high calorie meal every two hours! No wonder he’s nonstop! This would be a very cool gift for a new mom!

Neither the pediatrician nor the OB/GYN had heard of this type of analysis being available, but both said knowing the basic breakdown of my breastmilk would be useful, given some unexplained weight gain issues my baby is having.Quick results. I ordered on a Friday, received it Sunday. I mailed my sample out on a Tuesday just before noon, and received the results via email at 11:00 p.m. Saturday (for the basic test). Had I been quicker mailing, I would have had my results only 7 days after ordering the kit. Not bad.Easy to read & understand the report.

Babies have been thriving on breastmilk since the beginning of time and there’s nothing empowering about telling a mom maybe her milk isn’t good enough so let’s test it to see... women need to believe their bodies can do what they were designed to do; give birth and feed their babies. If it gives reluctant moms peace of mind, ok... and I’d rather see a mom breastfeed and analyze their milk than never breastfeed but I just don’t feel it’s a good idea to have moms questioning their biological design.I had a lactation consultant tell me because I was an older mom (I’m 39, my nursing is my 7th child and I’ve successfully nursed the others into toddlerhood) and because I’m vegetarian that my milk may not be good enough for my baby. I knew she was wrong. Our bodies aren’t designed that way. (It turns out baby’s problem was an undiagnosed tongue and lip tie. He was gaining on bottle fed breastmilk, and is now successfully nursing after his tongue and lip tie revision.)I begrudgingly ordered this test to prove the lactation consultant was wrong.The results showed my breastmilk has more calories than formula!The process was easy... I ordered Thursday and it arrived Saturday. I collected milk Saturday and froze it until I mailed it out Monday. I got the results 12 days after I mailed them in.
