Got it specifically to light my pipes tobacco smokes
Got it today and I’m very pleased with it so far.Tried the flint and after a couple of dry trials, started to spark fine.Filled with Zippo Butane Fuel and left it rest until warmed up to room temperature. Turned the gas adjustment to minimum and tested. I had to turn around two full turns until I got a flame, did it half turn at a time.Found that the adjustment is not very fine, as ¼ turn was the difference from good flame to too-much gas that (thankfully) failed to ignite. But now that I know, I can live with this. The first four to five trials, even though the lighter worked on the first strike, the flame was too yellow and sooty, smelled of burned oils and sooth was deposited on several parts of the lighter. As I was testing, I didn’t leave the lighter “on” for more than 6 seconds each time to prevent possible overheating. Now the lighter seems to burn clean, but will continue trying for a while before lighting any tobacco with it.Right hand use. I like the fact that the flame is at an angle away from my body when striking the flint and is not an issue to turn it to toast the tobacco keeping the flip cover away of the flame.I received the lighter loose in the Amazon brown box with a generic black box (open) and a nylon(?) bag inside a nice fabric pouch, no instructions. I tried the tamper/pick tool and found out that I had to gently pull the tool until it STOPS, then turn it 90 degree and it comes out smoothly; reverse to store it.I will take care of this lighter as it cost hundreds of dollars and, so far, I don’t see any reason that will not last as it was, time will tell. For an IM Corona Old Boy look alike for this price, I’m very happy …. so far.

A pretty looking disappointment
I'm pretty disappointed with this lighter. First off, mine came with the chrome pitted in 2 small spots. Not a great first impression, but its like 1/5 the price of the original, so whatever. It's very pretty to look at...It's based on a very well regarded design, but the functionality falls very short. With the tamp/pick being a separate tool, it becomes tedious to use and you eventually avoid using it at all costs. The lighter itself is honestly not special either. A Bic will do just as good a job, if not better, depending on the model. Even if you take into account the flow adjustment, there's really nothing this lighter does to help you light a pipe any better.Unless you are buying this as a gift, save your money.

Good knock-off, good value
For a fraction of the price of a high-end pipe lighter brand, this is a very nice reproduction. The weight is good, it looks good. The tamper took me a few seconds to figure out -- you have to rotate it 180 degrees to remove. You don't have to worry about losing it from it falling out. It fits tightly. Tamper has small slotted screwdriver to adjust flame (I wish my other butane lighters had this). That screwdriver also serves as a pipe pick. Filling went okay, the fit is a bit tight. I twisted the can back and forth slightly to improve fit and reduce leakage during filling. This lighter puts out butane as soon as the arm is lifted. If you don't flick the striker wheel immediately, you're spewing butane everywhere. Be conscious of that. I feel like this design works better left-handed, otherwise you're flipping the lighter back and forth.

Worked for a bit
The arm that holds the wheel that you spin came loose and is about to fall off probably got 30 lights out of it before it did that can probably tear it apart and tighten back up but shouldn’t have to do that

Works great but can leak
Sometimes after I fill it it loses gas within a day or two. I've noticed that if you fill it and then put your ear up to the fill valve, you can hear a slight hiss of gas escaping. To work around this, I give it a quick press from my gas bottle and check again. Usually if I try a couple of times, the noise stops because the input valve seals up.In order to prevent dirt from getting in and causing this, I've designed a 3d printed case for the lighter. You can find it on Thingiverse under "RUIXI soft flame lighter case / cover"

It's Okay
The item has a decent weight to it but you can tell that it's made of cheap materials. If you like this style of lighter then you won't mind the awkward technique required to ignite it. I wish the flame control was easier to adjust. Needs to be cleaned often.

Great lighter, good quality. More affordable version of "corona old boy" style lighter
I have always wanted a corona old boy, but being that i am unemployed, spending over $100 on a lighter isn't logical for me at the moment. This is a similar lighter for a fraction of the cost. I have bought quite a few lighters and many stop working within a week, which is why I decided to wait a month before posting this review. Since getting the lighter, I have used quite heavily everyday and have not encountered any major issues, although one day I decided to bring it outside and found it very difficult to light even with the slightest breeze. That is a minor complaint considering that it wasn't designed to be wind proof. One other very minor issue was when I dropped it. . . when I picked it up off the ground I noticed that it was rattling, but this was easily fixed by tightening the screw on the bottom. I also wrapped some paper around the inner plastic that contains the fuel to fill in the gap between it and the outer metal housing to keep it from moving around and to give more of a solid feel to it. Other than those very minor issues, I would highly recommend this lighter and should last a long time with proper maintenance.

Very nice!!!!
I like this lighter! Not only for it's vintage feel, but I have not had a problem with butane leaking out as I figured I would for a budget lighter like this.Weight is fantastic, it feels like it should. It isn't to bulky, fits in the pocket nicely.Great quality! The tamper has a special stop on it in the lighter so you can tamp with out fully remo I g it, but it also comes out all the way so you can scrape out the remainder. I use this on my tobacco pipe regularly!
