You should see the stuff this keeps out of your filter. I ride sometimes behind several other jeeps on the trail and man this thing starts swirling dust and sand all around. When I get home I wash it out and all is good. Great product.

Easy to install on my Rugged Ridge high low mount snorkel for 2018 Jeep JLU. Took about 2 minutes. I would have given this a five but its made of glass. I can easily see this thing getting broken when a road debris flies up and smacks it at speed. Thats a point of failure. Not sure why the manufacture chose glass over just black plastic for the dibris catch insert but they did. All other manufactures use plastic for their snorkel pre-filters. Probably design just so you can easily see the dirt inside. Kind of strange and lazy, it doesn't take more than a few minutes to unscrew the top and look inside. I'd like to see the manufacturer sell a plastic replacement. If they did I'd by it. With that said it works well, very well. I'm happy with it other then the glass, but what do I know, I've got about 6 places in my windshield with tiny cracks from rocks. Just waiting for it to hit the prefilter.

I definitely suggest this upgrade. Looks and works amazing.

This item is not what I expected. Nowhere on the box or product anywhere says rugged ridge. Says made in china on the box, which tells me I can get the same quality for half the price from others here on Amazon for the same Chinese quality.

I've heard people say a pre filter can limit your air intake at high RPMs. I've tested this pre filter on the RR snorkel from see level to over 13,000 feet with 0 issues. I kept an eye on my air/fuel ratio and never saw it move. You'll be shocked how much dirt this thing filters out of your intake.

I don't normally review products so early after purchasing them because I don't feel that you get a good idea of the quality till you own it for 6+months typically. HOWEVER I wanted to warn other people of a rediculous oversight on the part of rugged ridge in not providing a rubber gasket or SOMETHING to prevent water from leaking into the air system via the top of the snorkel filter. The nut on the top let's a considerable amount of water into the snorkel and although the snorkel system has a drain it really shouldn't even be an issue. I had less rain water in my system when I had the air ram adapter installed! Quick fix if you don't have a rubber gasket is to use a little bit of RTV silicone. It'll dry into a rubber gasket and you can just peel it off when you need to clean out your prefilter. *****UPDATE**** So this product has gotten even worse. Besides the weird gasket oversight the snorkel filter has completely snapped off the base. When I investigated it to see why I noticed the plastic was extremely brittle and it broke off into a bunch of little pieces. Obviously some kind of quality control issue with the plastic used and or they just used poor quality plastic. Very disappointed. I have changed my review to 2 stars and will be emailing Rugged Ridge.

Good product/bad quality. I didnt like all the bugs, mud and rain the stock snorkel intake wouldn’t prevent entering the snorkel. This prefilter stops debris from entering the main pipe. The design causes air to circulate like a funnel inside so any bugs or debris that get sucked into this spin around the perimeter like a merry go round at an amusements Park. Since it’s clear plastic you can view debris collected in the bowl. After five months of use the clear plastic looks foggy and the metal lid is rusty on edges. The function of this product works well but the cheap metal is poor quality. I already repainted it to prevent more rust. Disappointed in quality for the money. PROS - works as described CONS - cheap plastic and metal deteriorate over short amount of time.

Fits perfectly on 3" exhaust pipe, good airflow on jeep yj 4.0 high output (homemade snorkel)

Fits & seems to work well. Clear plastic went cloudy but otherwise all good.

Had it two months and the black paint on the top is already faded and the plastic is already cloudy. Tried cleaning the plastic things what it looks like. They need to use UV safe powder coating.

One of the few Rugged Ridge products that did not disappoint me. Cheap plastic but it actually works ok.
