Raag Parichay Part 1, 2, 3, and 4 (Combo Set of 4 Books)

This set of books teach ragas very well. Besides that it has other important sections like tabla, sitar, history of Hindustani classical music etc.A must have for all Hindustani classical music learners.

The book was exactly as described and came in good condition. Good packing. Value for money.

I received the set of 4 books today and have gone through few chapters so here is my review. Raag Parchichay 1-4 consists set of 4 books. All these books explains the concepts of Raga (Sargam with explanation of komal , shhudh and triva notes, thaats, alankars, types of raags, detailed taan and alap for every ragas, characteristics,types of music, octave, types of musical instruments and their history in brief, brief comparison with western musical notes etc) . these books are based on U.P. board 10th 12th and B.A. SYLLABUS . hence were meant primarily for 10th,12th and B.A students with music subject that's why 4 books. helpful also for those who want to understand the concepts of Hindustani classical ( better for those who have some fundamental knowledge of sargam, thaats ) . Not recommended for beginners who may be seeking help to learn any musical instrument ( it may be however helpful for alap and taan for those who already knows the basic). Book is in Hindi and explanations are very clear. written by well known person pt Harishchand Srivastava. Print of the book is not unto the mark. also the topics order are little bit confusing ( i was expecting that thaats, and other explanation will be there in the first book in the beginning but they are towards the last chapter in the same book). Since all topics are not required for me , few of them were really helpful. i am giving 4 star considering all mentioned points aboveRecommended for those who want to understand the 'concepts' of Hindustani classical

Very bad binding, the pages are already falling off. Keep a glue bottle handy if you are buying this book. I had ordered 4 volumes of this book. The books give a brief introduction of several ragas and basics of Hindustani music. The content is very good.
