you don't secure them, they are made to sit on either side of your front door, if you want to secure them somewhere you will need to come up with your own means.

Q: How do you get to the light bulb to change it?

The plastic candle flame comes off the top and the bulb is connectd to it. Once you get to it, just change the bulb as you would in your house and snap the top back on the candle unit.
