To-Link or Netgear - most others are junk
Went through 3 other brands with good reviews for a better price and the all failed in less than 2 months. Finally went with a trusted name and very happy. Setup was fairly easy and great improvement on speed with a 2 story house and upstairs router. Get this and you will be happy

Perfect wifi extender
I bought it because I wanted to reinforce my fastest wifi signal from a new operator. And it works perfectly.

Works!
Added this to my home because my other extender was way outdated . It works - don't have some of the issues(buffering for one) as previous. Easy install.

major drop in speed
I have a cable modem connected to a cable in the basement for the sake of getting the best wireless signal down there where I work and have a game console. However, its signal did not reach well to the 1st or 2nd floors and not at all to the back patio behind a brick wall. I scoured a lot of lists of best wireless network extenders and finally picked this TPLink as one of the most favorably reviewed. Now came the test of experience.... I would say that the TPLink's plus point is that devices would switch to its wireless network automatically when they moved closer to it away from the basement modem. The con is that the speed dropped from 300 Mbps to about 10. Its signal did not penetrate a brick wall even to a device right on the other side of it. So I could not sit out there with a wireless speaker connected to the home network via the TPLink extender, which had been my main purpose in buying it.

I was a sceptic
It works!Router is in the Den on the main floor. The TV I was having a problem with is downstairs. Router couldn't penetrate the wall and floor well enough to avoid buffering from time to time. Problem solved! I was able to watch Game Of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 with no problem! Actually, that is the main reason I bought the Extender! To watch that show. I know, how sad is that! But it worked!
