It does have some good recipes, but of course is limited on what you can eat. So there wasn't much that I cared for, but still it has a few good choices. Now I'm beyond that and can only eat liquids for the time being.

Wonderful recipes, easy to read, lots of good advice
My mother has Parkinson's and it's difficult for her to eat anything because of problems with swallowing and loss of taste. The first recipe we tried from this book -- the broccoli cheese soup -- was a big hit and was very filling. I used an immersion blender to make it a smooth consistency and eliminate any stringyness in the cheese (we used regular cheddar and parmesan); that, along with the blended potatoes and broccoli, made it just thick enough to swallow easily. What a relief because she's been losing a lot of weight. We're going to try all of these easy-to-read and follow recipes. The advice at the front of the book was spot-on as well.

i have a child with cerebral palsy and got this book for more ideas on what to feed besides pureed fruit and veggies (like baby foods). I found some help with this book and one of my caregivers also felt there were some recipes worth trying. The intro was also instructional about feeding difficulties.

Valuable for our menus - thanks!
Many books I've looked at to address the topic named here in the title have been either NOT easy to chew NOR easy to swallow. Some give NO nutritional assessment and those I've had to return. What good are the recipes if they are not enhancing the nutrition of the person who needs them?I actually carry my copy of this book with me in my shopping bag! While browsing through the markets I correlate the recipes with what I'm seeing fresh in produce and I can look immediately for new tastes I haven't tried or repeat those I'd found tasty and worth making again. No wonder I rated this book as 5 stars!

Helpful recipies
I have not really had time during the holidays to try the recipes, but as I read through the book, I got some good ideas to make palatable meals that I could eat as well.

Excellent resource
My husband was recently diagnosed with Achalasia, a very rare swallowing disorder in which food has difficulty passing from the esophagus to the stomach. This book was recommended by the Achalasia 101 support group and has quite literally been a life changer for us. The first part of the book gives detailed and varied information on dealing with many kinds of swallowing difficulties. The majority of the book is devoted to recipes. The recipes are mostly mainstream American with ingredients that are easily available in any grocery store. My husband's eating difficulties have been greatly eased by using these recipes. It's not necessary to make separate meals for each of us as we both enjoy the food.Dealing with this new diagnosis was rather bewildering and scary. This book has been helpful in so many ways. I recommend it.

Better for chewing disorders vs dsyphagie issues.
Excellent overview about swallowing disorders but the cookbook/recipe part is way inadequate for individuals needing pureed foods. Was looking for recipes/grocery purchase suggestions for how to make tasty pureed foods, and this book does not provide help.

The book is excellent for the situation currently having to be managed for a family member - adenocarcinoma of the esophagus. Very helpful information pertaining to swallowing &/or chewing problems with really good recipes with "common" ingredients so you can prepare your own menu items. It will be a go to book for me for quite sometime.

A very helpful book
My father needs a really soft, almost pureed, diet so not all the recipes will work for him. Nevertheless, I have been able to take the recipes and based on the information provided in the book alter them. I would recommend the book because of that.
