Germ Alert: The Black Model Kills Germs With a Baby Care Cycle; The Silver Does Not
The media could not be loaded. I returned the Silver model (MDC22P2ASS) dishwasher for the Black model (MDC22P1ABB) because it is advertised to have a Baby Care cycle. The Baby Care Cycle operates to kill germs through a higher heat temperature to kill bacteria and germs. This is an important function that attracts buyers like me for not just immunocompromised health, but for those consumers who would like the option of guarding their overall health and safety post COVID.The reason a Midea Baby Care cycle (* featured on the BLACK model [MDC22P1ABB]) works is because the water temperature in its final rinse phase goes up to 158F/70C in order to achieve killing germs that surpass the minimum standard of 150F/66C that is set forth by the National Sanitation Foundation.By contrast, the Silver model (MDC22P2ASS) operates its highest heat setting within its Heavy Cycle which its final rinse phase which reaches a temperature of 154.4F/68C; However, I do see some setbacks: First, I was unclear of how long the heat stayed elevated in its final rinse phase in order to kill germs effectively. Also, I was not convinced this setting reached a high enough final rinse phase temperature because upon completion of its entire operation, there was no steam coming out of the machine upon opening the door further suggesting its inefficiency. Finally, A Heavy Cycle setting on a portable dishwasher unit is not meant to carry out the function of a sanitizing/ Baby Care cycle operation as with the Black model (MDC22P1ABB); This function has its own dedicated button and operation on the control panel.Save yourself the time and inconvenience with the Silver model (MDC22P2ASS) and go with the Black one (MDC22P1ABB); Look specifically for the Baby Care setting on the control panel.Aside from the unit function, I did find the return process convenient. Also, I contacted Midea's customer service department so that they are aware of the confusion in advertisement as it pertains to such a huge difference in function to color choice. Ann, the agent I spoke with was receptive of my concerns with the confusion in advertisement and as a response, she has reformatted the dishwasher details to limit confusion in two ways: the error in advertising a Hygiene Cycle with the Silver model (MDC22P2ASS) has been corrected ✅ . In addition, the Black (MDC22P1ABB) and Silver (MDC22P2ASS) models are now displayed on separate pages due to the difference in function ✅. Will update my review after purchase and test run of the Black model (MDC22P1ABB); I anticipate a better outcome in function.UPDATE: 3/13/2025:Did a test run of the Black model (MDC22P1ABB): Picked the Baby Care Cycle, runs 90 minute with a final rinse heat temperature of 158F/70c. Upon completion, Midea's Baby Care Cycle does perform! The steam does escape the machine suggesting the water temperature does reach its advertised setting. **please note, I only did a test run to see how the heat function would perform, if there was any leaks coming from the hoses, or mechanical problems with the unit. I am very pleased so far and will update as needed if there are any notable deviances or exceptions noted in its overall cleaning performance. Please reference the newly updated videos and picture reference of the Black model (MDC22P1ABB) for your convenience. ****CHANGING MY RATING FROM ONE⭐ STAR FOR THE SILVER MODEL TO FIVE ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ STARS FOR THE BLACK MODEL**** Thank you, Midea!

Black countertop dishwasher
So far so good! I am really loving this dishwasher. It did come wet as stated in the description soI wasn’t surprised. No issues with installing other than making sure the drain port was properly sealed and connected once I fixed that problem I haven’t had any issues. It is a bit heavy but overall very we built and spacious. You do have to leave the faucet on while dishwater is running which I wasn’t aware of but that’s fine. So far the dishes come out. Clean when properly placed in the dishwasher!

Adapted for use with a pull down faucet
As this item is not to be used with a pull down faucet, I decided to have the current side sprayer removed and turn that into a permanent spigot to be used for the dishwasher adapter. I hired a plumber to hook that up to the hot water below the sink and it works beautifully. As for the fit, it slid right into place on my countertop. No room to spare. Perfect fit.

Came badly damaged!
Just got my Midea countertop dishwasher, and I am TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED!!! Upon opening the box it came in, I noticed it is all scratched up and has a big dent in one side. For being a new appliance, and as much as it costs, I wasn't expecting it to look used/abused already! I'm attaching pictures, but it's difficult to capture all the scratches on a camera phone. It's definitely a lot worse than it looks!! I can't comment on how it works, as I haven't even hooked it up to use it.

Great compact dishwasher
This benchtop dishwasher is an excellent addition to any kitchen, combining elegance with top-notch functionality. The sleek design fits seamlessly on the counter without taking up too much space, and the high-quality materials give it a durable, premium feel. Setup was simple, and it connects easily to the faucet, making it perfect for small kitchens or apartments without built-in dishwashers. Despite its compact size, it has a surprisingly spacious interior that accommodates dishes, glasses, and even small pots with ease.Performance-wise, it delivers spotless results every time. The different wash cycles provide flexibility for everything from lightly soiled glasses to heavily used cookware, and the quiet operation is a pleasant bonus. The interior racks are well-designed to maximize space, and the drying function leaves dishes ready to use straight from the machine. It’s clear that this dishwasher is built with quality in mind, and it has quickly become an essential part of daily life.
