I don't know what prompted me to purchase this book because it was not something I usually am drawn to but I am so glad that I did! I have not read a more delightful book in a long time and I read upwards of 50 books a year. The characters were very interesting and well developed by the author, and the whimsical tone of the story kept me turning the pages well past my bedtime 🤣. I mean, an ingenious octopus 🐙 how imaginative ! This book evokes feelings of joy, sadness, grief, hope and empathy with a very satisfying conclusion. I look forward to reading more from this talented wordsmith Shelby Van Pelt.

Honest emotions fill this book and make you feel accepted and understood. The plot is interwoven and fascinating. The love of nature and ocean is so refreshing. You feel si connected to the octopus!! I have serious respect for these beautiful creatures.

This story just warms the heart! It is so week written and an easy read. I can't wait for my book club!This is my favorite so far. Never thought I would read about an octopus and missed family but it truly is a great story.

I’ll be thinking about this book for a long time. Touching, moving, beautiful. Extremely well written with fully developed characters that become friends you don’t want to let go of when the book ends.

This book was such a sweet read! 🐙 The cover, complete with octopus tentacles on the pages, instantly drew me in. If you’re in the mood for a feel-good story, this is the perfect choice. The friendship between the main character and a clever octopus had me smiling throughout. Reading from the octopus’ perspective was both heartwarming and unique. While a bit predictable, it’s one of those sweet, comforting books we all need sometimes.

What a wonderful heart felt read, I even shed a few tears at the end and I’m not usually a crier. The mystery that encircles the plot is worth the wait. Truly enjoyed the development of the characters and their plights in each of their lives. Most rewarding to have read this book, and I’ve always known that octopuses are very intelligent And I’m happy that Shelby could shed a bright light upon these beautiful creatures! Thanks

This truly was a delightful read in every way. I grew to care for each character in such a natural and easy way. I have to confess that at first, realizing the story centered around an octopus, I did a bit of an eye roll and then decided to trust the reviews I had read. I was completely drawn in! I found the story interesting, heart-warming and well paced.
