Microsoft Kinect Sensor V2 for Windows, Development Device, Requires a Dedicated USB 3.0 Port

Microsoft Kinect for Windows V2I purchased Kinect for Windows v2 for my graduation project, In order to develop Windows Store App.The main hardware problem that i faced, that it requires a USB 3.0 port, and i've MBP 13" late 2011 that doesn't support USB 3.0; and to solve this problem i bought a new HP laptop with USB 3.0 port. You also need a good GPU, Because if you used Intel GPU you well faces a problem of Low FPS. The software problem that i faced was the lack of resources for developing Windows Store App using C#, most of the available resources is for Kinect for Windows V1 not for the newer version.

You will need a USB 3.0 connection. Easy to install 3.0 and connect to your PC's Motherboard. Be prepared to watch a lot of YouTube videos to learn how to use it with Maya and MotionBuilder. You will also need Brickel if you are creating animation videos. Have fun!

Very dissatisfied. Had to order parts because the Kinect information called for a dedicated USB and indicated a USB problem. Order up parts that all took two weeks coming from China with Amazon indicating the parts would arrive soon. Then, after installed by tech and tried on a different computer it was obvious the Kinect was not working. With all of these problems, it was too late to return the device. The problem with time was due to Amazon giving false information regarding deliveries that were coming out of China and that was not made clear. Dissatisfied with the product and Amazon that led to these concerns.

Doesn't work, plain and simple.Like others. I've upgraded to windows 8.1, and downloaded their Kinect SDK 2.0. NOTHING WORKS.Even their own applications (i.e. Kinect Studio) don't work.My computer has the following:Gigabytle F2A88XN-WIFI Motherboard (yes, it has usb 3.0)AMD A10-7850k APUAmd Radeon R9 270x graphics.8GB RamSamsung SSDThis machine is a beast, and meets all the Kinect requirements. But yet, the kinect still doesn't work. It just keeps restarting. Apparently this is a common problem, as Microsofts forums are flooded with complaints about this very issue.At least I can return this piece of crap. Microsoft should be ashamed!UPDATE:As a last ditch effort, I removed my AMD Radeon R9 Graphics card, and replaced it with the following:Startech 2 Port PCI Express SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Card AdapterAttaching this adapter to the PCI-Express x16 slot seemed to do the trick; now the Kinect works as it should. I will bumped my review to 2-stars because owners shouldn't have to go through this much trouble in order to get a device to work when their system already meets requirements.Now what can I do with my AMD Radeon R9...sigh!

Great gadget, but it requires lots of computational power from your PC/MAC. So be aware to have appropriate hardware if you want to develop for this. We had Dell's All-in-one computer, and it always started using its ventilators to cool down the CPU. I don't like lots of wires it has as well. :)

Ordered the Microsoft Kinect Sensor V2 for Windows. You know, the product that is described in the title. I received an XBOX Kinect Sensor, an adapter for the XBOX ONE S Kinect Sensor, and absolutely no information about the configuration and it's setup. Seeing how I already own an XBOX Kinect Sensor, and the adapter wasn't even for the part that was delivered (only for XBOX ONE S) this configuration was completely useless for anything other than plugging into your XBOX, not even your XBOX ONE.Buyer beware, the Kinect Sensor V2 for Windows is a radically different product than an adapted XBOX Kinect.
