Q: These appear to be identical to snowtrax by yaktrax, with added hook&loop retention strap and lower price. anyone had both? is that the case?

I’ve had both. The spikes are much better. I can walk on ice with them, whereas I would slip with the coils. They also stayed on the shoes better, whereas I had to keep adjusting the coils to get the right placement.

Q: Can you wear them driving?

I wouldn't recommend it. They could get tangled up in the pedals--gas, brake, clutch if you have a standard transmission, if you had to do something suddenly.

Q: I have coil yaxtraxs & love them for snow & ice running but they feel strange on plowed/bare area's of the run. Would these be better? Other options?

These have a really good grip to them and is perfect for any situation. I work on an ice show and are required to walk/run on ice/concrete 40 hours a week and these are great. Had them 6montha no issues.
