Best heater of it's type on the market by far.. Economy, reliability and power!
*** UPDATE *** I've used this a ton of times with great success, but it s a Propane (not Butane or even a Propane-Butane mix) heater. You may have difficulty getting true Propane in Europe as the winters are more mild. In North America high-quality Propane is easy to come by and is very necessary in brutal winters.(Propane burns much hotter Butane and will burn at very low temperatures such as -40C. Butane on the other hand will likely not ignite easily or at all below 0C. Butane kicks out comparatively little heat vs. Propane and burns quite dirtily so it'll clog up your Mr Buddy heater.)Suffice it to say, the best way to use this heater is with a bulk external Propane tank, that will last many hours - such as a 20 pound tank.Cost:-Contrary to the assumption that this item is overpriced, it was imported, so there is import tax, the postage is £56, and the included brass adapter. Not to mention the import hassle, and long wait have been taken away. Therefore it is *actually* truly exceptional value.Usability:-Some guy had difficulty lighting it, but in the video the angry person posted, you can clearly see that person not following the instructions, or the numerous youtube videos.. So ignore the irate guys rant, he's totally mistaken. Anyway, the pilot light lights first time every time, as does the burner plate. Just remember to hold the button as instructed for a full 30-40 seconds to prime the pipes and then light the pilot light - until you hear gas flowing. The pipes are full of air at first and you need to flush out the air, which angry guy didn't do.Performance:-So this thing kicks out an absolute ton of heat on medium setting! It's feels approximately the same heat output as a full-size single bar gas fire in your house. The device has two preset settings, medium and high, and you simply don't need any more. The presets are obviously for safety - to keep enough gas flowing to keep the ceramic heating panel correctly heated. Consequently I registered zero on my Carbon-monoxide PPM meter while testing this device. (My other lesser gas stoves in the same environment all read around 10-15PPM - which is safe, but it is there, so this stove is also squeaky clean).Build:-The device seems to be well made with good firm controls, and has loads of testing labels from the factory. I have no doubt this device will last for many years.Economy:-I use and tested this stove with EN417 C500 (approx 1pound) cartridges. I found I got at least 6 hours burn from one C500 can of 70:30 (Butane:Propane), but sometimes as long as 8 hours. The 70:30 split also allows a cleaner burn and cold-weather performance down to -15C. To put that into perspective, that is incredibly economical considering the heat output. My next best heater uses 227 gram Butane cartridges, which last around 20-40 minutes, and kicks out half the heat of this unit.It is really really simple to connect this device to a 20 pound propane tank (the red ones) via an EN417 male adapter cable. That 20 pound tank would (in my huble estimation) last at least 150hours + constant burn time.Verdict:-Because it's USA made and suffers high postage and import costs, it seems like a high initial cost. However, considering how much you'll save on gas over time if you connect it to a larger Propane tank, you'll quickly make back the cost. It is very well built and puts out a lot of heat, enough to heat a medium apartment.I live in my RV over winter, and nothing comes close to this on the market for both performance and economy. There are no gas smells either, which suggests very clean combustion. You can often smell gas on cheaper heaters.Highly recommended!Other:-If you do connect a bigger external Propane tank, please remember to get a MR HEATER connection hose with build-in filter, or my preference, 'oil free' hose. This is essentially to prevent chemicals leeched from the pipe building up in the burner and rendering it inoperable. (There are plenty of MR HEATER informational videos on the subject and why).Ambient temp operation :-If you use C450/500 tanks or similar, the tanks will automatically ice quite a bit and thus lower the temperature of the propane below it's useful level, and it goes sluggish. Lots of people complain of this heater 'working for 10 minutes' or whatever along those lines. It's just tank icing. You can put a neoprene sock on the gas can to greatly reduce tank icing, but every heater in the world has this issue in low ambient temps. It's it's really cold when you use this heater, you can buy 'Coleman Xtreme' gas which is rated down to -27C, which works great at any ambient temp. Its just a case of buying the right gas for your conditions, or hooking to a large external tank that doesn't have this issue. Although the Coleman Xtreme's are C300 cans and a little smaller, they bunch much better and so you'll get more heat, so it's a fair trade off in my book. The laws of physics are not this heaters fault :D

Great wee heater
The Mr. Heater Portable Buddy with Adaptor is a fantastic choice for anyone needing a reliable, portable heating solution. With a heating capacity of up to 2.4 kW, it provides excellent warmth, making it ideal for camping, hunting, or working in a chilly garage or shed. The setup is straightforward, and the heater can connect to a standard propane cartridge with a 7/16 thread, which is convenient if you’re using this outdoors or on the go.I was impressed by how quickly it heats up a small to medium-sized space and maintains a steady warmth without consuming too much fuel. The built-in safety features, such as the automatic shut-off if tipped over or if low oxygen is detected, give peace of mind, especially in enclosed areas. Portability is a major advantage—the unit is lightweight, compact, and easy to carry, making it perfect for moving around as needed. The adaptor that comes with it is an excellent addition, allowing compatibility with different fuel sources, which enhances versatility. Overall, if you’re looking for a dependable heater that combines portability with a strong heating output, this is a top choice. Highly recommended for outdoor enthusiasts or for anyone who needs a portable heating option!

Fantastic and safe
Worked very well camping , using it in storm and cold conditions , it’s easy, light and great heat. Only downside is, it’s a bit of a thirsty beast, the larger camping gas containers would last 2-3 hours on medium heat , obviously wastes quicker on high setting. Carbon monitor didn’t move with it on full time in tents, so it’s really quite safe which I like, especially out with the kids. I think hooking it up to larger capacity bottles is the way to go as it’s only flaw Is how much it drinks. The only other thing to mention is that it never completely uses the canister, your always left with some (that’s normal in camping gas) but this one cuts off with quite a bit in each tank remaining which feels wasteful

Excellent heater so impressed.
This heater was just what I was looking for, I use this for fishing in low temperatures. It seems very well made and heat output is excellent. I use the Coleman gas cans and works perfectly. My friend brought a cheap heater with the gas cans similar to the ones you fill a lighter with (push fit) and it exploded and ripped through the tent. The Coleman gas cans are sealed when you screw them on making it much safer. This will used a lot during winter fishing.

My new Buddy
Great heater but I wish I knew then what I know now!!!Gives out good heat but eats the gas at phenomenal rate. The Coleman(green) can with the G600 fitting(same as Mapp gas bottles) cost £26.95 for 495g of gas and lasted approx 3hrs.These screw straight into the heater without the adapter that comes with the heater (Didn't know it had adapter for different types of gas fitment?)....So I also bought gas cans x6 with EN417 fitting((smaller thread size)that screw into the adapter that comes with heater. These 6 cans,C500 type with EN417 screw fitting cost £26.95 also these have 440g of gas in each can.Works out to about £4.50 a can and come from same company Simply Outdoors.....So unless you got money to burn???.....It might be best option to go with the EN417 C500 canisters???Being said....it kicks out the heat and all the safety features work great.

Check economics of gas supply
This is a good little heater, but takes research for safety & economics. I'm only getting 2 hours for a c500 cannister. These have to be bought in sixes which cost more than £26.00. otherwise much more expensive. I had read they would last 5 or six hours ! & this is on low setting. 20 pound tanks can be bought for this at considerable expense plus hose & adaptor ?
