Q: It is painfully tight using the size chart. is that just how these things are? Used them for the first time (size s, I'm 8-8.5) and it HURT.

Size small is too small for your foot. Try a medium. I wear a 10.5 - 11 wide shoe, and an X-large size ankle compression sleeve.
