Okay, let’s get the main thing out of the way- this scan tool is awesome. For reference, I’m a ford senior master technician, and I have been in this field for 21 years. I got this scan tool because I’m the only one who works on non OE vehicles at my dealership, and I wanted something to provide as much coverage as possible. This tool does more than I hoped. It’s not my first Launch- I have a 4 year old x431 pro v 4.0+, a 2 year old crp91ebt and a 2 year old CReader 2.0. I like the larger screen, and decided that this year was the year to order a replacement for the 4.0+, and this scan tool was on sale. Large screen, faster processor, more ram, great coverage and compatibility, this filled all the boxes. It comes with the smart link 2.0, which plays nice with all the new networks. The package was boxed well- two hard cases in boxes, inside a box, inside another box. Nothings going to damage these during shipping. Opening the boxes reveals a multitude of adapters, and the scan tool/ethernet cable/VCI and adapters. I powered the scan tool up, 99% charge. Boot time was about 15 seconds, already faster than my 4.0+. I logged in with my Launch account, and checked for updates. 85 updates available, not surprising. It took the better part of an hour to get them downloaded, and then I set out to test the scan tool. While I am a ford tech, as stated I work on everything, and the first test vehicle was a 2022 ram. I got the serial number and registered it with my AutoAuth account, and connected the scan tool. Everything went smoothly, and after logging to AutoAuth I had access to the secure gateway module and was on my way. Now, something I want to mention here- this scan tool is SIGNIFICANTLY faster at pulling dtcs and detecting modules than any of my other tools. I posed a video, it’s literally seconds to detect every module and pull dtcs. Instantly fast, faster than my other Launch scanners, my Actron or Autel units, and a hell of a lot faster than IDS and FDRS. The tool is also beefy- not heavy and bulky, but the case itself in feels strong, and it should protect the scan tool very well. I’m really happy it has this case, as opposed to my old 4.0+ which didn’t feel this sturdy. Getting in to checking data, the same layout is used, which is good because it’s simple to use and it’s well laid out. Data logging is easy, and you can display a good amount of PIDs, as shown. Checking a Chevrolet, the results were the same- more than satisfactory. Tons of data, ease of use for retrieving and clearing dtcs, everything well laid out. Finally I took it to a super duty, my bread and butter. Pulling mass air flow sensor data was quick, as was going back and retrieving cylinder mass PIDs. Power balance is fast and crisp, and updates the graph data quickly. This scan tool has 99% of the reset functions that IDS and FDRS have, and using the bidirectional controls, I could test the egr valve and coolant bypass valve. After the repair, I used the scan tool to run a manual regeneration, which completed flawlessly. Overall this is an amazing scan tool. It works perfectly with my Launch TPMS wand and Launch battery tester, and this unit has the option for an oscilloscope as well. I will update if there are any issues, but I don’t foresee that being a concern. Overall, this is a professional scan tool that will cover most of what’s on the road. It’s fast, it’s powerful, and it should last for years.

I bought this Launch X431 Pro3S+ Elite to replace my Launch X431 Pro3s+ that I bought back in 2022. The 2022 Pro3S+ is a great tool, and I had zero problems with it for over 2 years. I just bought the Pro3S+ Elite because of the expanding abilities that it can do. With the Pro3S+ Elite, one can add a 4 channel Scope to it, add a Sensor box, and HD trucks capabilities too. There are more capabilities than that so just research the tool in the description to learn about it, too many to name in this review. My older 2022 Pro3S+ cannot do these things, so this was my main priority for buying this Pro3S+ Elite. The Elite is much faster too. I expect great things from this tool. I expect no problems from it too, being the 2022 Pro3S+ gave me none. The Smartlink C box is a stand out too with it's remote diagnosis capability which I'm still learning about. This tool can do J2534 programming too so keep that in mind when determining the value of this tool. It is feature packed and future proof too with it's free 2 year updates included. You can't go wrong with this tool. I could go on and on about it, but I won't. Just do your own research, assess your needs, and buy this confidently, knowing you made the best decision for this price point. Much better value than the big name tool truck guys.
