Inspiring Women Frida Kahlo Doll

Frida Kahlo is a renown feminist and activist. And her Barbie is gorgeous, from her artfully crafted unibrow to her colorful dress. She’s regal and perfect to add to my growing “Barbie” collection. She arrived quickly and in great condition. The box is display worthy. I recommend her.

This doll is absolutely beautiful and amazing! I was so surprised to see that Mattel actually made a doll of my favorite artist. I wish her legs were bendable at the knee, but she was obviously meant to be a display doll not a play-line doll. I was so surprised to see how LONG hair hair was and how thick and beautiful it was when I unraveled it! So much effort was put into her. I personally purchased this doll just to make her over, but I absolutely needed her face mold for it! I decided to remake her painting "Self Portrait with cropped hair". I just bought a new copy to send to my Frida Kahlo loving mother as a collector's doll for Christmas.

The frida Barbie was a gift for my sister in law. When she opened it she got a huge smile on her face. She said, “Oh my God!!! She’s beautiful!” She kept looking at her. “ Thank u sooo much. I love it!. It’s one of the best gifts I could’ve received.” She then got up and gave me a huge hug. I recommend this Barbie to anyone that loves Frida. It’s a great collection to have. I loved it too.😄❤️

As a barbie collecionist of any 1/6 scale doll between 11 to 12 inches dolls, this is one is one of my favorite dolls in this category, she is well done, I love everything of this doll, definitely I recommend this doll, worth every penny, very happy with my purchase.

My wife is an admirer of Frida Kahlo and this idea of Mattel to produce a series of Barbie dolls to remember great empowered women was a great one.

The only other Barbie I ever owned was when I was a kid - it had a blonde "Bubble" hairdo and huge bust (c.1961.) For a Barbie, this one is actually quite nice and well sculpted. If one looks at photos of Frieda when she was young, she WAS thin and her eyebrows didn't grow super heavily through - just a few hairs as this Barbie shows. In later years, Frieda actually accentuated this feature with an eyebrow pencil. Frida's father was German and her mother was Spanish/Native Mexican so Frida's skin WAS rather pale. The costume is not great. It will be fun to fashion a new, more authentic wardrobe for her!!!! Amazon has books on Mexican Clothing, embroidery techniques, etc. Also silk embroidery threads CREATE! I wish the doll's legs bent at the knee. Frida had to sit a lot. I'm not sure that a famous person's image can be patented. Someone is probably working on a Meghan Markle doll right now. And look at all the Trump pinatas! (Maybe the Mexican government will have to hire agents to intercept American doll dealers crossing the border.)

This is a birthday gift. I cannot believe how beautiful it is. Delivered so quickly with no hassles whatsoever. Great business!!! I cannot wait to give it to her💕

I can't stop looking at her. They got so many of the details, from the unibrow to the braided updo to the outfit. Such a beautiful doll who represents such an beautiful human. Mattel, never stop making Barbies that represent all the amazing, powerful women of every background and I will never stop buying. (Btw, I only took off a star from presentation for a loose string lying on her dress. But I still love the doll. )

This doll perfectly captures the style of Frida Kahlo. Her dress is beautiful and her face is truely unique for a barbie doll. Plus she comes with a stand! As a collector this makes me very happy and I wish more dolls did this. I would definately recommend her for any collection. For playing with I would say she is also great as her clothes are all one easily removable dress and where her hair is up it wont get ruined easily. On the other hand, I do not think she is worth £49.99 as I paid. Although her arms have full articulation, her legs do not. The plastic feels a lot cheaper than most barbies I own and her hair might look amazing from the front but at the back its a mess. Generally though I love her and am so pleased mattel made a doll of such an inspiring woman. I look forward to the rest of the line and hope they become available in UK soon!
