Product Description The Transfer's sculpted ventilation and hip styling are great for humans on the go. The clean lines and easy-to-use features are thoughtful touches that offer everything you need - and a little more than you expect. .com The sleek, sculpted Giro Transfer bike helmet offers everything you need for commuting, touring, and cruising, and delivers a little more than you might expect. The Transfer is made using Giro's in-mold construction, which fuses a tough polycarbonate outer shell with the helmet's impact-absorbing EPA foam liner. Not only does this fusion process reinforce both layers, but the "exoskeleton" also allows Giro to engineer helmets that are lighter, more durable, and better ventilated. The helmet also employs Giro's patented Acu Dial fit system, which hugs the back of your head and reduces the tendency of your helmet to shift forwards or backwards. With a single-handed adjustment of the full-fit band, you can create a perfect fit regardless of your head shape or hair length (the helmet is even ponytail-compatible). To keep you cool on the road, the Transfer comes with Giro's proprietary Wind Tunnel ventilation system, which combines 20 active vents with internal exhaust channels that thrust cool, fresh air over and around the rider's head while forcing heat and stale air out. The significant increase in air channeling makes a difference that riders will feel immediately. The Transfer is a Universal Fit single-size helmet. Giro's Universal Fit family of helmets is sculpted to look good and fit great for most people on the first try. By developing unique shell sizes based on select customer groups and combining them with an adjustable-fit system, Universal Fit helmets make it easier for you to find the right fit, right out of the box, right away. About Giro Working late nights in his garage, designer/bike racer Jim Gentes created the first lightweight adult cycling helmet in 1985. Friends at NASA helped him tune the final helmet shape and vent placement, resulting in the Giro Prolight, a helmet that was better looking and better fitting than traditional designs yet still met the industry's toughest safety standards. Plus, it was half the weight of traditional helmets. Since then, Giro has advanced its helmets, many of which have set the standards for styling, function, and innovation for progressive, performance-oriented riders on dirt, pavement, and snow. Giro helmets are worn by millions of riders, cyclists, skiers, and snowboarders around the world: young bloods and old-timers; hardcores, heshers, and hipsters; rookies, experts, and a few regular Joes too--in fact, pretty much anyone that appreciates superior fit and function, cutting edge styling, and the very best ideas you get in a helmet. Giro is based in Scotts Valley, California.

It lives up to it's design claim: One Size Fits All!
I needed a bicycle helmet, since I was planning to buy a bicycle to ride around on (which I have now).Looking on Amazon, I came across the "GIRO Transfer Bike Helmet." It boasts a "Universal Fit" for all riders, and having a large head myself, I figured I would give it a shot. The package arrived on time, in a large box. The main thing in there is the helmet itself, along with instructions.Basically, I advise you to read the instructions first, since they really let you know how to properly adjust the helmet, and to make it fit correctly & comfortably onto your head.Browsing the short instruction manual, I took the time (which is very brief, to be honest) to find the words which addressed how to make the helmet fit on your head, and it all worked (hint: looking into a mirror does help). There are straps on the each side, with black plastic locks, so you can adjust the length of the straps, which wrap around your chin.At the back of the helmet, is a circular plastic dial, which also can be adjusted to balance the helmet evenly on your head. This dial is connected to the straps & the interior "cradle" of the helmet that sits on your head. This Giro product White/Silver, with Grey Stripes, and white & red lettering. It has gaps in it throughout, for ventilation, but your head never feels unprotected or exposed. All in all, I am pleased with this product so far. I have used it every single time I ride my bicycle, and I have had no problems with it slipping, coming lose, or being too tight.A great & essential safety product for all bicyclists, and at a good, affordable price.

Comfortable fit, Good protection
Bought this after a wreck where I wasn't wearing a helmet. I was lucky enough to fly over handle bars to left (onto my hands and the sidewalk) rather than to the right (head first into a tree). Decided to buy my first bike helmet. Seems to be a good brand and overall looks to be a great price on the item.PROs:1) Fits great-Straps easily adjust. Has a dial in the back that you can tighten the entire setup with one hand...actually just two fingers.2) Has great air flow. I was worried about riding my bike here in FL where it's hot and humid and having something on my head acting like an insulator. It actually moves a good amount of air by your head through it's multiple vents. Do I sweat more with it? Sure, but I also feel 100% safer wearing it3) Looks great.4) Price was great too. $22 for a Giro helmet? You can hardly buy a cheapo one at Walmart for that much.CONs:1) Not really a con, but it's definitely snug. If you have a REALLY big head, this might not be for you. I wear XL size hats and this is JUST right for me. If you don't fit into XL hat, move on to another helmet.Overall, it's a great deal

Fits perfectly for me, weighs 284 grams
Giro Transfer (Blue/White)This is my first true bicycle helmet. I had been using a Protec Classic for a few years with decent success, except it weighed too much and wasn't well ventilated for the summer. The Protec was heavy because it has an ABS plastic shell as well as EPS foam. The Giro Transfer is essentially all EPS foam with a very thin plastic shell for certain parts of the foam. It weighs 284 grams on my scale. The Specialized Evade and Prevail are in the 215 gram range, so I'd say the Giro Transfer isn't a bad deal at a fraction of the cost. The Giro Transfer is supposed to fit a certain range of head sizes, and it does this with a rotary dial adjustment band on the back similar to hard hats. My head circumference was 23 inches, so I fit into the size range and it fits perfectly fine with minor adjustments needed.I can tell that with these style of EPS foam helmets, they won't take much abuse and a single impact will most likely crack it or damage it severely.Overall: 5/5 stars, great price, excellent fit, lightweight, and comfortable.

Comfortable and does its job.
This helmet is very easily adjustable, even while riding, through the round dial in back. Its profile on my head is slightly less than other helmets I've had, which I appreciate, because I've had some that just look plain old silly. In addition to looking good, feeling good, and adjusting easily, this thing is built tough. I've purchased two now, and I'll be ordering a third momentarily. This helmet has saved my life, without a doubt, two times now. Once I sort of just bounced off the pavement, and once I was concussed, but the Transfer did its job and protected my head. I have one hell of a headache, but all my above-the-ear parts are intact. This helmet is definitely recommended to anyone who's frequently (or not so much) at risk of getting knocked off a bike.

Great Helmet
This is a great helmet. Light, well vented, and I love the dial in the back to adjust the helmet size. I haven't worn a helmet for a long time because the last couple I bought were so heavy and hot, but when I transitioned to more city biking this year I knew I needed something and this helmet has converted me into a full-time helmet wearer. I was a little worried when I got it because there is not a lot of padding in the helmet, but I have not found this to be a problem as it is easy to make adjustments to the sizing with the ingenious dial they put into the helmet for adjustments. So easy I can even make adjustments on the fly! I ride between 50 - 100 miles a week and this helmet is just perfect for that. Highly recommended!

nice for the price
Are there better helmets out there than the Giro Transfer? Absolutely, but for the $19 price this is a 5 star helmet. The adjustment system works great, it looks fairly stylish, and the venting is decent. I highly recommend it for beginner or recreational cyclists or cyclists who don’t ride in hot weather. What you will get with a more expensive helmet such as the Giro Atmos is more ventilation, lighter weight, better styling, and a more customized fit. When my parents decided they wanted to start tooling around the neighborhood on their Electra Townies this is the helmet I told them to get.
