Great espresso maker
I'ts great what you can achieve with such a simple product.

Perfect for what it is
Makes actually very good espresso! The process is very similar to that of an Aeropress. Takes maybe 5 minutes at a leisurely pace. My only nit to pick is the base is not the most stable, and the plastic groans a bit, but functionally it works totally fine. What else do you want for $120?

Flair The NEO Flex with Carrying Case
I purchased this item in August 2024. I loved it. Six months later the rings or ridges that hold the o-rings onto the Pressure Gauge have crumbled and no longer hold the o-rings in place, rendering the whole unit unusable. I make two cups a day. Extremely disappointed. I'll probably go back to my Aeropress.

Pulls a good espresso shot
Updated review: I've been using this press daily for the last 2 weeks and I'm satisfied with the espresso shot I can manually pull with this press. It's great to be able to pull a shot anywhere without electricity as long as I also have a manual grinder. I have changed this to a 5 star review because I was able to perfect the espresso shot the more I used my new Flair manual espresso maker and new portable grinder. This doesn't replace a semi-auto espresso machine but I'm satisfied with using this as a portable solution for espresso!

Solid travel setup but not very portable
If you've used any manual lever machine before you'll know your way around this. I do think the new thinner wall brew chamber could help mitigate the need to preheat. Otherwise it feels solid enough though the plastic body creaks a little bit. Just a word of warning that the carrying case is surprisingly large so if you do plan to travel with this allot it a good amount of space in your luggage.

It broke at the neck after a year. Also - Paper filter
There is a major design flaw in the silicone base used to preheat the chamber. The first time I used it I picked up the chamber and the bottom dropped out spilling hot water down the front of me. From then on I made sure to hold very intentionally onto the silicone cover. And today, after a year of use the handle broke at the neck. I guess had I purchased the more expensive model that is all metal I would still have it. In addition the piston broke a few months back so I ordered the metal version. Everything is now going in the trash unless someone needs parts, I am willing to mailing them to whoever. These machines are good only if you want to make one shot a day because it takes too much time and effort to do several. So, I will be trying the OXO Brew Rapid Brewer for less than $40 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DC8JYJQX/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 Regarding the paper filter: I cut to size a paper filter and the espresso is smoother, I love it. I have read that paper filter reduces or removes cafestol - "Cafestol, the fatty substance in the oil inside coffee beans, is the cholesterol-raising factor, and it apparently gets stuck in paper filters, which explains why filtered coffee doesn't increase cholesterol." ...... Yes, coffee can increase your cholesterol.

Excellent for espresso. Start with red basket, move to black once you have dialed in grind size. I use 8g/single dose. Keep pressure around 6 bar/ letter "p" for balanced espresso. Spoon out crema for more balanced taste. Preheat for light roast.
