I would recommend to use the Bhagavad-GIta As It Is, by A.C.Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada, as your main text. It has all original Sanskrit verses, their translation, and impeccable commentary.

This is a uniquely western academic approach and a traditional devotional yoga approach from one who is steeped in both worlds. The Gita is filled with transformative transcendental knowledge, but few know how to properly utilize it. Some of its interpreters aim for powers; others, for sectarianism. This is not a Hindu book.
