The British way
Will start by saying I never really caught the Olympic flame the fever of it all; Wish now in hindsight is kind of sad. But thought I would get this as a consolation prize and be able to watch the highlights. And so glad I did. OK it's not like watching it in full. or Live on TV; And of course this blu ray set does focus more on the British efforts throughout the Olympics but that should be expected really.Nice to watch the sports that you would never really take any notice off. of course I'm a football fan. But Have been thinking about broadening my mind sport wise. And well this was a good start. The image quality is superb. The opening ceremony (which I haven't watched all of yet) sorry 3 hours is a long time to watch a ceremony. But from what I watched it was good. The great camera shots of around the UK. Of course the bond bit; And Mike Oldfield was a nice touch. As was the Chariots of fire feat Mr bean. That was quite funny (not hilariously funny) £22.97 is not a bad price for this package. And probably the only brilliant box set for the London Olympics really.it's a good package. Must have been a hard process so a round of applause for the BBC and the people who put this package together; Obviously some will be a tad disappointed. But you can't please everyone. But it's been great to watch. For anyone who missed it; or for people who want to re-live highlights of this fantastic event. Would they ever release a full package? probably not; and yes their are missing sports. Volleyball of course some guys would have preferred to watch that over the water events :)all in all 5 discs of sport and fun.though the BBC should have made the discs a bit better to easily navigate through; and the opening ceremony is split between two discs. don't get why though as the last forty or so minutes is on disc 2. But that's a very minor gripe.overall a great little package. And not too expensive either which is surprising as sometimes the BBC can be a bit on the over pricing side (Dr Who to name but one) (well used to) have got better on that front as well.So if your looking for a souvenir or curious at what all this fuss and britishness was all over about? Give this a buy. Will say during watching it my patriotic pride was up a few notches. Now if they did an Olympic games in Egypt i think my patriotic levels would hit record levels.(and I'm half Egyptian if you where wondering why Egypt would register on my Patriotic scale) :)an enjoyable run of games. proud to be British..... (stiff upper lip and a cup of tea and a patriotic salute to the sky singing God save the queen) Jolly Ho one does now have to get back to ones work; so I employ you my kind people buy this rather good Blu ray or dvd thingey a buy. you will not regret it; and if you do? you can always give Points of View a ring and have a chit chat about it.thank you for reading fellow buyers and reviewers.

Worth it for the Opening ceremony
I was looking forward to obtaining a good quality of the Opening Ceremony, after living off the 1080i50 master transport feed that is floating around, as I did not like the unnecessary comments of the BBC commentators. This does not disappoint. The key thing is the sound has been normalised and mastered, as the broadcast version does have irregularities in volume. I am also glad that there is a untouched audio choice, and we are not forced to hear the pointless comments of Hazel Irvine et al, as no offence BBC, as I watched live, it was incredibly annoying to hear Hazel Irvine remind me that it was JK Rowling reading, or Trevor Nelson telling us that his cousin's dad's brother's daughter's pen pal was in the NHS section. This ceremony was made to be enjoyed in its own sound, and not to be ruined by commentary that can only be put on par with a DJ constantly talking over music. The Pandemonium section is just absolutely stunning in DTS MA, especially on a decent seperates system, as are all sections playing "Sundowner".The only negatives are the following;- Having to switch disk for part 2 (this is of course not BBC's fault!)- I am not 100% convinced with the audio editing during the Caliban's Dream section. The sound here has been dubbed over from, so you do not have the announcements of the young torch bearers from the stadium.I haven't watched the Sporting section; to be honest I'd have gladly paid a lot more just for the Opening Ceremony, as it was a truly stunning spectacle.Buy it, and make sure you buy the album as well

A wonderful way to remember a wonderful year!
It was an amazing year for the country last year, it really was - and a large part of that was down to London 2012. The whole atmosphere and postivity that surrounded the Olympics seemed to grab the whole country in a way I've never witnessed before, and was suprising as beforehand all that a lot of people could do (mostly in the media) was tear it down and make us almost dread it, fearing it would be a disaster, which of course it wasn't. It was amazing and this DVD proves that. The wonderful opening and closing ceremonies were highlights for me but it was all of course for the sports, and there are lots of sports highlights included (and I mean A LOT - I was suprised how much was included in this box set that I haven't watched through it all yet - that'll keep for a day I'm off sick!). I was able to purchase this at a bargain price of £9 and it was delivered very speedily. But whatever price it is, its a DVD set to treasure and keep, helping me to remember what an incredible year for Great Britain 2012 turned out to be!
