Century Original Wavemaster Freestanding Heavy Punching Bag

I come from many years of martial arts training and wanted a bag I could use at home for technique training, cardio and simple routine to reduce stress and emotional overwhelm. Although this bag can be moved and toppled with a significant side kick, I did not purchase it for that reason. If you want a bag that does not move or topple and you are going to kick with power, or do flying kicks then this is NOT the bag for you. Only a hanging bag will work for that kind of training. But for what I'm using it for I'm loving it and so is my husband. We filled it with water - very easy - placed it on a dolly and used our outdoor hose to fill it up - then rolled it on the dolly Into our workout room. We placed it on top of a bath mat that has rubber gip on the bottom. We have hard wood floors and by putting it on a bathmat with rubber grip has helped it from sliding on the wood floors. I also rotate around the bag as I work with it. So I don't mind that it moves a bit. We've had this bag for 1 month and so far we've found it to be sturdy, leak free, and really terrific to use. As a side note we also purchased Gel Injected Boxing Hand Wrap for Men and Women gloves (by Hawk Boxing) on Amazon for only $5.99 and they have been terrific to protect our skin and cushion our joints while punching the bag.

We purchased this bag for our now 10 year old child's birthday. Pros of a Wavemaster: 1) Can take a ton of abuse - I use it with her as well, and we have no problems 2) It is very adjustable and is easy to change the height for both of us Cons of a Wavemaster: 1) It does slide BUT this is not a huge issue and is an obvious issue for all of these bag types (same happens with the commercial type bags at our karate school) 2) The hole to add the water (or sand in our case) is small and took a while to get 200 lbs of sand into it - again, not a huge issue because the bag is meant to hold water, not necessarily sand Personal feelings about the bag's price: We just contacted the seller because it isn't sold by Amazon regarding the price (we paid $139.00 for the bag just this month and it's now $40.00 less). I am hoping the seller will refund the difference as it was not long of a time between when the price was reduced.

We use these in class so I wanted one at home that I could practice on. It’s durable and the quality of the canvas is fantastic. I didn’t want to fill mine with water so I filled it with sand. The only thing I would ask for is if it could be sent with a funnel that fit the opening of the base.

Moderately good product for a moderate price. Filled with 250lbs of play sand and withstands Muay Thai kicks. It does move a bit but if you circle around it as you train it should easily stay within a 3’ circle. Recommend minimum 6’ radius work zone from center to train comfortably.

So far so good. I've owned and used this product daily for about a month now. I mainly use this bag for practicing my muay thai technique, heavy bag routines, and to supplement/mix up my cardio routine. I filled the base with about 200 bags of sand, and it took about an hour to fill. One tip i can tell you, a gentlemen on Youtube found the perfect homemade funnel to help fill the bang with sand, a Simply Orange bottle with the bottom cut off. I can tell you this will hurry the process along than if you used a standard funnel for the job. I filled the base with sand because the base itself would move much more with water. To prevent movement, i also paired the bag with my pogamat exercise mat (made of a nice thick rubber), this really helps keep the bag where i want it. Now, this unit is great for my purposes. I'm 5'10, about 170. I don't crush the bag workout constantly with hay-makers (although it can take fair good hits mixed in with combos so far that i can tell). This bag is really good for speed drills, standard heavy bag routines, reasonably good for kicks (can't practice shin kicks, but you can practice fairly low kicks around quad level). This bag is not great for practicing knee strikes, although I can clinch the bag and lean it with my thick rubber mat keeping it in place, this would not work for a hardwood floor/carpet. I would definitely recommend this product for people below 5'11 who want to do some heavy bag work, or incorporate this into a cardio workout. For people about 6'-6'1'+ i would recommend the XXL or a larger bag.

I have another Century punching bag just like this, but my other one is old, torn and worn out which is the reason I bought this new one. I love Century punching bags. The base is sturdy and you can really throw hard punches and kicks to get a really good feel of your punches and kicks because the material is very durable. My 1st bag, I filled with water which is great. This new one, I filled with sand (just 100 lbs. at $7 per 50 lb. bag at Home Depot) and it's sturdy enough to stay in place. Filling with sand is a pain, but this one is staying indoors in my house gym room, so sand is better if using it indoor on 2nd floor.

This is a good bag for cardio and occasional big hits. It will move if hit with power but generally it stable. I like feel of this bag and adjusts easily. Tried medium light punching hold up well but heavy hitting or say a lunge kick would move it. Overall I'm pleased with this purchase.

I teach kickboxing classes and do one on one and this bag is perfect filled up. It’s heavy enough. It goes too many levels. It’s very sturdy and I have no doubt it will last me a very long time.

It came a lot faster than I expected and it’s exactly what I used to use in taekwondo when I was training. Same durability and size. Great purchase
