Amazing.. It did hold a rifle barrel without damage. I was able to torque 45 inch-ft without hesitation in a 4 inch vise. The magnets are located in the right location, so it will stay in place. The moldings holding the padding are the reasonable size. The pads with multiple V notches properly hold multiple sizes or cylindrical materials. The flat pads works very good for non marring projects. Both they grip, won't slip. Whoever invented them is a weekend warrior, or definitely uses the vise for multi use. It might cost a few bucks more than normal soft jaws, but they are very nicely made.

These jaws are secured to their base by magnets that hold the jaws in place. But when you put force on the object they are holding, they can and will move. They work great otherwise. What is needed is a lip under the jaw that will not let the jaw slip out of place when you try to wrench something loose.

I picked this product as they have two different jaw pads for holding different jobs. They can be changed easily and quickly but I find they can be bumped easily which moves them out of position. I have another vise that has padded jaws that are bolted on to the steel jaws and are much more sturdy. Most jobs using a vise require some rough handling so the padded jaws that get misaligned easily can be aggravating.
