Purchased this book for agent based modeling. It is a great book for beginners.

I've been waiting for a book that takes on ABMs with great clarity and doesn't default to being a NetLogo tutorial. Agent Based Models are pretty much a part of my daily job, but the learning on the job was not very simple, this book would have cut my time in half (even considering the time taken to read the book).Writing style is very clear, and the author doesn't pitch ABMs as a competitor to other approaches which is refreshing! He also explicitly states that you do not need NetLogo to do this work, the community is so ingrained in these tools that its hard to find resources that explain without over-reliance on tools.Might not be very useful if you have been doing ABMs for a long time, or are looking for continuous modelling help (think diffEQs) and are married to one way of doing things. Otherwise I think this book will become a staple in the sciences, especially when studying any kind of complex behaviour.Counterfactuals & Bayes theory is covered too - I couldn't ask for more from a resource. If I ever meet the author, first round is on me.

Access to “NetLogo” software sources is a positive point. mathematics is accessible. I enjoyed the chapter on cooperation
