Even sound response across full Hz range
Even sound response across full Hz range, especially with no shrillness on the E String all the way up to top F - what a joy.

Lovely strings. Huge, dark resonance. Responsive - start immediately, respond to changes in dynamics, do not whistle or let you down. Have been playing on them for two months.

Loud but unusable strings
Having tried almost every string out there, I wanted to try the Kaplan Amo as my fiddle is very bright and wanted to try this mellow affordable string. The A string in both the high and medium tension just wouldn't sound properly. It just made a distorted crunching sound when playing fast or ornamented phrases. Very peculiar and an expensive mistake to make. Never had a string do that but wouldn't recommend these to anyone.

Disappointing
Tried these strings after a bit of research. Kaplans own website recommended them as an alternative to obligato which are great but getting very expensive. I was expecting quality strings. The e is fine, settled quickly (as e strings do) and nice solid response, tone and projection. All the wound strings were disappointing. The winding does not feel or even look smooth with visible imperfections straight out of the (thin plastic) wrappers. The a was very harsh , metallic and unresponsive even after being on instrument for 5 days and many hours of playing- virtually unusable for amount of bow effort required. The d ,similar but perhaps settled a bit after five days or so. The g is not too bad but still not great. Have given up and removed d&a now. These strings did not live up to selling points- fast breaking in and mellow sound - the opposite in fact. Reminded me of using very cheap strings like dogals when I was too skint to get decent strings. Would not recommend.

Terrible
I thought I would give this set of strings a try, but it was a complete waste of money. The violin doesn’t speak at all if you play fast passages and makes horrible sound if you play above 3rd position. I will be sticking to Pirastro or Dominant strings .
