Great boots for hunting, hiking, and work. Lightweight, comfortable and good support. My first pair lasted 1.5 years, used for ranching, utilities work and hunting almost daily. The zipper makes them easy to put on/take off going in and out of house or truck. Will post pic, they look rough but they were abused and $100 boots with 1 year manufacturer warranty. Hard to beat. The zipper broke which is why I bought new pair.

I use the Bates boots for my work, but needed a toe protection so decided to go with this one. Because of the toe protection cover, had to break it in little longer than usual, but after break in, it's very comfortable. If you're not used to wearing shoes with toe protection, it may hurt your toes depending on your posture, but aside from that, at least for me, it's very comfortable. Will buy again if needed.

This is a family who believes in the value of good footwear and Bates has a decent reputation, an excellent one. I do like tactical footwear, mainly because they’re so rugged and designed to take a beating. They fit well and will be used as my rough and ready boots when I’m working outside. These have a safety toe, something I prefer when I’m working. They are full leather like Redwings. They also are the most affordable tactical boot out there. I usually go a half size up or more because I’m always wearing wool socks, even in hot weather. I do like the side zipper, which is further closed with a Velcro tab. The tread on these boots is like that on a tire. It’s deep and designed to grip the ground, from sand to clay or loose dirt. Instead of a military style lace up, there are impact resistant eyelets … no hook eyelets. It’s got a solid leather counter instead of a backstay. I think that will make them much longer lasting. The tongue and collar are foam padded. There’s no mesh like one would see on some footwear so these won’t be the most breathable boots on the planet. I don’t much care for the elasticized ropes or laces and might swap them out in time. I do love the fact that these come in wide as that’s a preference. These will probably take me a while to break them in, but they’re worth the effort. If you want a hunting boot, go for it, but if you want tactical these are the real deal.

These fit my son perfectly and we ordered his normal size. Boots are quality made and I anticipate them lasting for a long time. Very sturdy, so needs a day of break in time to get used to them, but perfect for my son's job in home moving. Aside from the protection, the anti slip grip and moisture wicking were of upmost importance for his boots. These provide both and have kept his feet protective and cool so far. He does a lot of driving also, and these have proven comfortable for that as well.
