How thick is the mirror?

It's kind of hard to measure exactly, but the construction seems to be a durable plastic lens - backed by dense fiberboard. Since losing my left eye to a detached retina about 10 years ago, close up depth perception is a problem. I am using 3 of these mirrors in my garage to help me park the 2 vehicles we own. I use a smaller version in each corner of the the garage and a larger one in the center. Each is mounted high; about 8 feet above the floor. They make it possible for me to navigate forward or back. To answer the question: "How thick are they?" I am guessing that the plastic lens is about 1/8", and the fiberboard backing is about the same; total is about 1/4". There is a sheet metal crimp that goes around the outside to add some rigidity. The greatest risk of damaging is while making adjustments. Be sure to loosen them enough to make it easy to push and pull them into alignment. Then, tighten. Try to mount them high enough to avoid bumping into them. Best wishes!

This mirror is a horizonal mount. Can it be mounted vertically and will the bracket work if it is?

I have bought two of these and have had them installed for over two years. They can be mounted any direction as the mount has a ball and pivot type device that allows you to rotate it 360*. Easy to install. I would by more in the future as I need them. Covers a large viewing range.

The description suggests this mirror is glass, several times, but for the price point I very much doubt that's true. Can someone confirm?
