Claire Bowman Pearlised White Cake Lace - 200g

Love this product. Never fails to produce great lace.

This cake lace has a lovely pearlised effect. Very easy to spread on the lace mats. I find I get best results if I bake in the oven at about 80c for about 10 to 12 minutes, depending on your own oven of course, and the mat design. When it’s dried completely let it cool for 5 minutes and then spread a second coat and let it air dry overnight. This pearlised lace looks stunning as a cake decoration, especially on Wedding Cakes. I will be using this on my sister’s Diamond Wedding Cake. Once the lace is made you can store it for literally months if wrapped in baking paper. Quite pricey but the 200g tub does 2 large mats with 2 coats or several small mats.

I was a bit concerned after reading some of the reviews that drying the lace in the oven was a bit hit and miss, so I tried air drying. I wasn't in a hurry so this was fine. This worked perfectly, and continued the drying process with the butterflies over a formed piece of baking foil. Perfect results every time. If time is not a problem, use this method. It colours up really nice too.

Fantastic results. Easy to use. 200g tub goes a long way. Ensure you mix well between uses. Pleased that if tub is sealed after use I can use again later and with two more cakes to decorate before Christmas this is brilliant! Certainly adds a wow factor to cakes. I used this product with the snowflake silicon mat in the Claire Bowman range. It took a bit of experimentation with oven timings but also worked well drying at room temperature. I then used the pieces on my sister's wedding cake which looked stunning. I would highly recommend the pearlized white as it caught the light beautifully.

A bit stiffer than the original mix, but still quite good and 'workable'.
