Secrets of the 3-String Partial Capo: The "Cut Capo" Chord Book: Volume 1 (Capo Voodoo Guitar)

Useful and interesting but bulked out with alot of chord pages.
This is a comprehensive introduction to the ideas behind partial capo use. Although I have to confess the pages and pages of chords seem to be more filler than realistic chords for application. It has useful and informative sections but is generally bulked out by claims of 1000s of chords, most of which offer very little variation or voicing of note and are mainly just key changes. In some respects learning to play open tunings like DADGAD outright is a better option than imitation although I have found you can get some variations with capo use that can be good. Overall a useful book and one that can extend your knowledge of chord tones available on a guitar.

Nice Book
I really liked this book. It was straight forward and plainly written. You do need to know a little about music and guitars, but then if you're looking at short capos I guess you're already there. The book shows examples of actual short capos and their pros and cons and also illustrates lots of fingering positions for different chords using them. It doesn't have any musical examples of where the short capo is really useful. Just one or two could have made a world of difference - which is why it only gets four stars. If you're thinking of buying it as a present for a guitar player then its a 'competent buy' (they will be interested) and if you buy a short capo to go with it I'm sure they'll be pleased. For a while anyway ... and you never know, they might actually use it.

Decent start point for using a partial Capo
A decent introduction as to how to use the Partial capo. And a ton of chord shapes with the Partial Capo in various postions ...Including the obvious 2nd fret position to give you that DADGA alike EBEABE .. so its worth having. Would have been even more useful had it contained some scales and a couple of songs in each partial Capo variation.

A new sound from my guitar
A great introduction. I've been playing guitar for many years and stumbled across the partial capo on you tube. With this book it gave me a good basic start and already within a few weeks I've started playing old songs with new voicings. Feel I have discovered a new pallett of sounds for my guitar.
