Absolutely great for my Garmin GPS. Needed a new cord and needed USB plug due to no cigarette outlet in many rental cars. I'm so glad I ordered this when I did before a trip with a rental car. GPS on rental car was going to be $15/DAY! This cord made my Garmin rental car ready and with preprogrammed location...we left the airport immediately with directions.

Got this because it's longer than the USB cable I am currently using. Plugged it into my Gamin Nuvi 2689 and a computer. Garmin unit would not go into transfer mode. Neither Garmin express or Garmin Basecamp software could detect the Nuvi 2689 with this cable. Disconnected this cable, plugged in the old shorter cable. Unit immediately went to transfer mode and was recognized by Garmin Express and Garmin basecamp. (i.e., the USB cable is a fraud as far as working with a garmin is concerned).UPDATE. Buried in the description is the phrase that the cable won't pass data, just charge. I wish that would have been a bit more prominent, but it's my bad. Cable seems ok.

Tested on Garmin nuvi 260 with simple power bank. Unit came on without going into PC Sync mode. Unit is now portable outside the car...excellent.

My Nuvi's power cord with traffic feature got corroded and stopped working. I started using a new power cord without traffic features and each time I would start the car, the Nuvi would display a message stating that the cord being used was incompatible with the traffic feature even though I had turned it off on the Nuvi. To my surprise this power cord some how managed to power my Nuvi but the traffic compatibility message no longer shows up. A truly wonder surprise!
