Helpful for confirming what it needs to and not identifying what it doesn’t (sorry to be cryptic, can’t be more helpful due to apparent rule breaking in my first review).

Unwell child tested positive for strep on this test at home. We were able to send the photo to our GP so antibiotics could be issued. Very useful to have these.

Out of date buffers....by 3 months....meant to turn yellow when mixed but does not suggesting the results will be inaccurate. Don't buy!

Here in the UK GPs don’t tend to test for Step A throat, and generally we stay home and assume it’s a viral infection until it becomes obvious for another reason that it’s bacterial. I wanted this home tester kit so when symptoms strike, I will know whether to gear myself up for the 8am phone battle to try to get a doctor’s appointment, or whether it’s good to stay home with fluids and let the virus pass. A simple positive or negative result (like in the covid testing we’re all familiar with now) will guide me. I have not had the need to use it yet to test to see if its results are accurate, but I can confirm that I have received all the elements of the test as outlined here online, and that the test is very simple to do. (Just one more brief process than the covid self-test.) And you only have to swab your throat, not your nose. All the elements are sealed separately - securely and hygienically, I feel reassured as to the medical safety of each part. The instructions are good. My one minor disappointment was that though it’s helpfully divided into the 5 separate tests, these arrive just in a jiffy envelope, not in branded box. I would personally prefer them to be packaged together more as if it was a recognised kit, rather than feeling someone has just divvied up the items from a warehouse and sent them out. Having said that, the individual items are separately labeled and identified and sealed, so I have no concerns, and am glad if this decision has kept the price down. I recommend this as far as I can, without yet being able to test the accuracy. For me the current price of £17.99 for 5 tests is a small price to pay for peace of mind or the necessary prompt to see a doctor asap.

Efficient

While I haven't needed to use the product as yet, this certainly has all the bits needed for the tests. You get enough bottles of testing solution per test cassette, swabs and tests. The liquid has an expiry date of 2025 so there is plenty of time to keep these stored without worrying about getting incorrect results. You get instructions on how to use the product, the only thing I would say is that the tests all arrived in a plastic bag. Potential there for damage or leakage if parcel handled incorrectly before getting to you. But other than that really these look like standard Strep tests and will certainly be useful for peace of mind with a house full of kids at kids. I have used one of this brand of test kits before previously and the result that came back, negative was the correct result the doctor gave after a throat swab test on one of my children. So no antibiotics were needed and I had peace of mind. I am happy so far with the testing kit.

What a clever thing! NHS can check your Streptococcus for free but if you can't for any reason or the GP doesn't want to, this is an excellent way to find out if you or your child are positive for it! It comes with all instructions and everything you need to take the sample. It works like a swab, I am sure all of us have done plenty during COVID time. You can read the results yourself but you can ask the GP or a health professional for a confirmation or if you want to get treated. I am very happy with this product, not very expensive. If not extremely necessary and you can do it through the GP I would not spend money but if you need to, go for it!
