Drifters Omnibus Volume 1

Very thick volumes of over 600 pages. I've seen and throughly enjoyed the anime many years ago and found myself with the idea of revisiting the source and came upon this great omnibus for a good deal. The action and story is quite fun and you learn to pay attention more of the subtle clues of what's really happening and whose who.

Expectations are high after Kohta Hirano finished his popular manga series Hellsing. I was pleased at what I found in this first volume of Drifters. We can assume by Hellsing that Kohta Hirano has some love for history. After the Major's monologue about blitzkrieg, we also know he does his research. This title took what he did with Hellsing as far as historical references go, and took it to the next level. Drifters introduces famous historical figures from different periods and different civilizations meshing them together into a gore fest. The violence and blood matches Hellsing as the gore factor goes. I don't want to give too many spoilers, but the historical figures take sides in a war to decide the fate of a fantasy world filled with elves, dwarves, and half-men (hobbits?) that are suffering persecution from men. It had great action, characters, dialogue, and a very unique plotline that is sure to please. If you love violence in your Manga you will be pleased with this as well, because the lead protagonist Shimazu Toyohisa is as blood thirsty and vicious as Alucard was from Hellsing.

Do you love Hellsing? Love samurais, Tolkien style worlds and violence? Then this is the manga for you. With a great concept of taking historical warriors and figures from all around and having them battle in a fictional realm as a proverbial chess match between two God like entities, this violent, graphic series is one for the books.

i absolutely love kohta hiranos new manga, the art style, blood, action and characters are awesome. I'm a history lover so this is a really fun story. To those who may not get all the history references, I would suggest you also read the manga online scanlations that are translated by fans. They explain much more in depth than the footnotes in the physical books.

to those who are fans of hellsing, should get this manga. bad ass plots, exciting new story, more brutal combats, and historical figures told like never before!

This is one of my favorite anime/manga of all time. It has great fights and a really cool story. I bought this after watching the anime. They are basiclly the same. At least the first volume to the show is.

I loved the anime so I wanted to check out the manga, It's stunning and a great read!
