upside down but expected based on reviews
Do have to be very careful, I cut my hands up pretty good trying to figure out the best way to use this with the carding cloth upside down, and not knowing if the brush was oriented correctly either. It is possible to use, and for the price, I'm good with what I got. I mostly wanted something small and affordable while I decided whether I would pursue these fiber drafting/blending methods enough to warrant a big name brand version that has a keel

Great blending board
The mat was on right, so I guess they got that sorted, however, the brush is a dog brush. That means the teeth on the brush are backwards. Not that big of a deal, I'll just have to use it upside down, is all. It is mounted on unfinished wood, and it needed a light sanding with a fine grit sand paper to give the wood a smooth, finished feel. I then coated it with some boiled linseed oil, which gave it a perfect finish in less than 5 minutes. (For the record, I prefer when wood craft items come unfinished. It allows me the option to give it a custom finish, if I'd like.) The only thing I think it really needs is some nonslip feet.

Assembled wrong! Very disappointing
As others have stated, the wire tines of the card are ineffective if the base board is held by the handle. Assembly of the large card was careless. I chose not to remove st staples, rotate the tines, then reattach to the board. Instead, I attached the entire inverted board-card assembly to a larger (1" X 12"X 48") board such that the hand grip is on the bottom side of the product. In this way the wire tines give the needed grip the wool and my hand motion easily pulls the small comb downward. Two wooden pegs I attached to the long board hold the card at a comfortable height and free my hands for the wool.

Spikes on the board are the wrong direction
I'm new to board blending. But one thing I did learn was that the bend of the spikes is supposed to be pointed towards the handle. Mine weren't. they were pointed away from the handle. So, I wound up having to remove the staples and turning the mat so that it was the right way and using my staple gun to correct the issue. Now I can card in the right direction where the fibers catch, and I can actually hold the board. One thing I did learn is this is actually great for cleaning the fibers. It helps open up the fibers of the wool it helps even get the little, tiny curls that are going to get stuck in your yarn out and spot them as well. So, I actually use this for cleaning. I brush the wool, and I can see that the dirt settles to the bottom and then you can just get a shop vac and suck up the dirt. But it's SOO much easier to pick the stickers and the dirt out of the fibers using these boards rather than just for bleeding.

Yup, the teeth are backwards
Should have read ore reviews, but as others have mentioned, the teeth on this board are facing the wrong direction. You get what you pay for, I suppose, but I expected it to at least be functional.

Carding
Use this for carding. Wonderful tool to card undyed and unfiltered wool.
