Pommery Firemen's Mostarda 250 g

Really great mustard for those who like it hot

I am a massive fan of Pommery Moutarde de Meaux and have fond memories of being allowed to chip the wax off the corks as a child! The cap of this one is a plastic replica of the original. I was unaware that this firemans's mustard existed and only saw it when I was purchasing a Meaux replacement - and all these years wasted! This is smooth and very hot, but not the heat of a chilli this is a mustard with excellent flavour which is less sweet than the Meaux but just as you are thinking this the heat starts to build and rushes in like an express train!! There are no nasal flashes like you get with wasabi just a very sophisitcated condiment. Don't hesitate..!

I`ve always thought of French mustard as mild when compared to the English mustard we all know. Having read about Pommery in a national newspaper, I thought I`d give it a try, and boy, it does not disappoint. The flavour is quite different to English mustard, and it has more heat than any other mustard I`ve ever tried. Having said that, it`s not vindaloo hot; just a tangy flavour with a real flavoursome bite. It will be my mustard of choice from now on, and I wish I`d discovered it 50 years ago. One negative point. The cap does not screw down. It`s like a flanged soft plastic stopper, and mine leaked quite badly in the course of delivery. Amazon made good without any problem, but it does need careful packing before posting.

lumme, i should have read the small print, i thought was getting a replacement similar to the moutarde de meaux i usually get. but not so! this one for real mustard fanciers. we tried it on chops and even having tried to scrape it all off it was a red hot experience. be warned- experts only.

he item arrived all covered with wet sticky material, not clear if this was leaking during transit

Expensive but hard to find and am willing to pay A little goes a long way

Poor quality seal and package monitoring. It must have been obvious to the picker. Very unsatisfactory.

I ordered the item and it arrived smothered in mustard. I was kindly refunded and then the item that I re-ordered was again covered in mustard. I like this kind of approach on steaks but not slathered on the Jar itself. The second jar I ordered was also covered in a little mustard too. I imagine one burst all over the original shipment.
