Sony TCM-939/B Compact Cassette Voice Recorder

I run a local talking newspaper for the visually impaired and we have used audio cassettes since we began 16 years ago. It is vital we ensure that the recordings have copied to the cassettes. We have used the Sony TCM-939/B recorder since we started and now our old machines are past their best. This is the best machine for the job and is great value for money. I would recommend the machine to anyone.

I had one for twelve years before it started giving trouble. Seemed like a loose connection, but I couldn't fix it or find anyone who would see it as worthwhile (one of the banes of our disposable society). Anyway, having studied digital options I decided "why complicate things by changing"? The only downside is that it makes a high-pitched squeak when cue-forwarding/rewinding. I'm a music-writer.

Many people of my generation will be left with an array of cassettes of music that they used to enjoy, but with nothing to play it on. This is the answer! The machine is sturdy but more compact than the old cassette players, and it is not fiddly like the walkman players. The sound quality is good, and with a mains lead there is no need to constantly change batteries. It will also record, but I haven't used that function. A very good buy for people like myself who want to go back to the 60s and 70s!

Although I own a good-quality digital "studio-in-a-box," I required something comparable for recording onto cassette tapes. At this price, I was never likely to get it - & so it proved. Good points: lightness, compact-ness & ease of operation. Flaws: mediocre sound quality. If Sony ever produce a more upmarket model than this, I would certainly be interested, but the sound would need to improve considerably.

Awful product. 2 Bought on my behalf by an intern. The sound quality is apparently too low to use in court. The court accepts cassette quality, but this item is defectively poor. And eats cassettes during record & playback. Seller horrendous, refused to refund this unusable product purely because the refund period had expired yesterday. Very unhappy clients. I didn't have time to apply for a refund sooner, I provide far better customer service than the seller. And was forced to waste £250 worth of my time preparing a free transcript for court from my cheap phone log (which had much better quality) for my clients. Do not buy & would not recommend seller who rhymes with Hideo_Vound.

Although I had an issue with the sellers, the product itself worked well. I bought it for my 94 year old father who is taping his memoirs and he found it easy to operate and although he has quite a soft voice it has taped well.

Ich höre abends zum Einschlafen Kassetten und da mein 20 Jahre alter Kassettenspieler seinen Geist aufgegeben hatte, suchte ich nach einem neuen, was sich als schwierige Suche erwies. Dieses Gerät war mein vierter (!!) Versuch, alle anderen hatten immer einen schlimmen Bandsalat verursacht und damit die Kassette zerstört, obwohl es zum Teil teurere Geräte waren. Schon beim Auspacken Gefiel mir dieses Gerät von Sony, es ist super leicht und schön klein, es nimmt auf meiner Bettablage nicht so viel Platz weg, dabei hatte ich gar nicht auf die Maße/Gewicht geachtet, weil es mir nämlich mehr auf die Qualität ankommt, und bei dieser gibt es nichts zu meckern: schöne Verarbeitung, nix wackelt. Auch das typische "Rauschen" von Kassettenspielern ist angenehm, also nicht zu laut oder kratzig, sondern einfach Kassetten-typisch schön :) Und jetzt das wichtigste: Auch nach einem guten halben Jahr, also nach ca. 200 Nächten kein Bandsalat -jippie!! Mein Fazit ist, dass dieses Gerät zuverlässig macht, was es machen soll, zum Abspielen ist es bestens geeignet, der Ton ist spitze. Zum Aufnehmen/der Diktierfunktion kann ich leider nichts sagen, da ich dies nicht nutze. Klare Kaufempfehlung!!

Buon rapporto qualitè-prezzo. E' uno dei pochi registratori a cassette che ancora si trovano. L'audio non è ad alta fedeltà. Ma per usi comuni va benissimo. Si può collegare l'uscita dell'audio del registratore alla scheda audio del PC, con un cavetto jack da 3 mm, e con un editor tipo Goldwave si trasforma l'audio analogico della cassetta in un file audio tipo mp3 o altro.

Ce colis est très bien arrivé avec un bon emballage facile a ouvrir. Je cherchais un enregistreur et j'ai trouvée. Mon mari aveugle pourra s'en serviret sera heureux. Merci amazone de pouvoir redonner vie a des outils qui sont maintenant remplacé par la technologie nouvelle. Je vous souhaite une excellente journée

Ich habe das Diktiergerät und ein gutes Mikrofon für die Arbeit in einem Kindergarten gekauft. Die Kinder können Sprach-und Gesangsaufnahmen machen und es dann anhören. Gut daran ist das Netzkabel und die handelsüblichen Kassetten, die wieder bespielbar sind und auch von Kindern gut bedienbar sind. Alles ist einfach und von ausreichender Qualität für diesen Einsatz.
