good for emulation and it technically works for newer games, too
I love to play old Zelda games on my PC, and I was sick of using key binds to play N64 games. so I grabbed this controller, plugged it into my computer, and it was ready to go. I didn't need to re-bind any of the buttons, and i can even use it to play other PC games. (my favorite is playing rhythm games with weird controllers)

Perfect for Simple64 emulator
This controller works perfectly. Brings me back to the late 90’s. I am using it with simple 64 and setup was a breeze. I definitely recommend this this N64 controller for anyone looking for a controller. Especially with simple64 emulator… 007, here I come

it uses a normal modern joystick
i have never used a genuine n64 controlelr so keep that in mind as you read i bought this to work on project 64 and yeah it works. but is incredibly awkward in some games, mostly due to the way the stick is made. this controller is using a modern joystick for the joystick. also the joystick is unable to get into the angle points in the cup. this makes some games awkward to play. ive tried it with zelda ocarina of time and open ocarina, both games get really awkward to play when the camera gets to forced angles. because the nothes dont work movement feels like im drunk. its hard to explain. is the sticks stem was a few mm thicker it would work MUCH better. but as it is now it is a circle shape, and not a octagon like the games are programmed for. the PCB is using "glob top chips", on cheap things these generally dont last but a few years. if all you need is a n64 controller for emulation then yeah it will work. but it wont be enjoyable. makes not sure if its a packing mistake but mine included a extra stick cap ive used a few of these USB n64 controlers and they were all exactly the same as this. i cannot recommend this product and will be i will be returning this and getting a genuine n64 controller and a USB adapter for it.

Good controller
Controller works well and feels great. My "A" button started to die after a few months though, so I'll need to replace it soon. If you're not doing anything to stressful with the controller, then it should hold up fine. Games with a fair bit of spam-presses might wear it down quickly, though.

Fails at basic functionality
Poorly-mapped buttons (very confusing; Start is not Start, and the C directions are mixed in with A and B) and the directional joystick has its horizontal dead zone at -0.04900 as verified in the gamepad tester. That means that while they physical joystick is centered horizontally, when you move straight up or down, your character will veer slightly to the side! It's completely unusable since the dead zone works against you, not with you. I'm returning this.
