PanPastel Sofft Tool 63052 Mini Sponge Applicators Pack of 12 Artist Painting Pastels

I ordered these to use with pastels, they arrived well packed and quite quickly. These are ideal for small detailed work, however if you press too hard there is a chance they’ll come loose from the handle as happened to me but I managed to loosen the aluminium, reinsert the applicator and squeeze the aluminium back with a pliers. Overall I’m quite pleased with these they worked well for the small detail I wanted them for. I want to try the bigger block ones next for larger areas.

Very nice tools but oh so expensive. I’ve bought similar ones at a fraction of the price which work as well. The advantage these have is that they can be washed but as they will eventually disintegrate when used on pastelmat paper I don’t think they are worth the price.

Have used these Soffit applicators on a couple of large landscape pictures of trees using the applicators for the leaves. I did feel that the handle was to short which made it hard work trying to keep your finger from smudging the work underneath. I preferred working with a longer handle so used a plastic drinking straw and pushed Sofft applicator into the end secured with masking tape, a longer handle which worked well.
