Nixies Swimming Mermaid Amelia

I bought this for my grand daughter (4 1/2) & she absolutely loves it. She couldn't wait to put it in the bath with a variety of shells for a bit of authenticity and it surpassed my expectations too. On the minus side a lot of people on the reviews said it filled up with water but I think they had not put the back on properly after inserting the battery - it is quite hard to put on to fit exactly but I wouldn't think beyond the capability of most people!Other minus points - took a long time to come & quite expensive but one happy 4 year old.

The one I received had a small break in the sealing chamber, unfortunately only discovered after it had been opened. Looks like a manufacturing or packing defect. As it had been given to a little girl for Christmas (who loved it), some superglue fixed the problem and the mermaid does work fine in the bath. What isn't very clear from the picture is that it has a small propeller in the tail - I had thought that it flicked its tail up and down (like a mermaid!) to swim. As a result, it whizzes about the bath, but doesn't "swim" in the way that a robofish or similar toy would. So overall, its ok, but just ok. As a parent, I'm a bit disappointed in it, but my daughter likes it, which is the main thing.
